For me the highlight of the round was going to be the shootout between the 2 best CHFs in the comp, Dowler v Ben Fraser. I've liked the look of Ben Fraser since I saw him late last year. Some of you may have noticed my earlier criticisms of Dowler.

Anyway, Fraser kicked 8. Dowler kicked 1. Obviously Gippsland dominated the game, so the midfield supply to each player would have been uneven. Well the good news is that Ben, I dont believe, is tied to a father/son, and is a CHF that we can follow during the carnival and into the finals at end of year.

Vic U18 Cup: Power on goal surge
06 June 2005 Herald Sun
Rebecca Williams

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,15519431%255E19897,00.html

GIPPSLAND Power flexed its scoring muscle to demolish the Oakleigh Chargers by 98 points at Morwell yesterday.

Ben Fraser (eight goals) and Jay Neagle (six goals) dominated in attack for the Power, while Chris Dunne also kicked four goals from the wing.

Neagle's six-goal haul took him to the top of the goalkicking table on 41, nine clear of the Bushrangers' Adam Prior.

Onballer Ricky Delphine (30 possessions) and backman Jaymie Youle were also impressive in the 22.14 (146) to 7.6 (48) win.

Matthew Laidlaw and Dean Kelly were the best for the Chargers.

Gippsland is one of three teams leading the competition on 32 points, sitting just behind the top-placed Murray Bushrangers on percentage.

Third-placed Dandenong is the other pacesetter and continued its strong form with a 61-point win over Western Jets at Burbank Oval.

Alex Lee (five goals) and Curtis Barker (four) were the top scorers for the Stingrays.

On Saturday, the Bushrangers ensured they retained top spot with a 32-point win over Geelong at Shepparton. James Martiniello was named best afield for the Bushies, with teammate Mark Baker kicking four goals.

Eastern Ranges strengthened their position in the eight with a thumping 58-point win over Sandringham Dragons. Bradley Kelleher, with five goals, dominated the scoring for the Ranges.

Bendigo Pioneers remain the only team yet to win after suffering an 80-point loss to North Ballarat.

Hi Lutt,
Hard to say, it says in the match summary that Luke ended up played W/HBF/Int, not at CHB. 13 possies, 5 marks, 2 tackles is OK.

Also MB was right. Varsamakis didnt make the final interchange.

Yep, see you tomorrow night. Save me a seat.

Spoke to Pat Fountain (Dragons) - who didn't register a scribble, but was on the ground for 32 minutes, and got 22 hit outs - so his ruckwork is obviously doing ok.
Good to see Tomi Johnston in Sandy's best again.

Not sure about Fountain.

Prowess stats has:
Fountain, 0 K, 2 HB, 0 M, 1 T, 0 G, 14 HO, v
Warnock, 3 K, 4 HB, 2 M, 5 T, 0 G, 27 HO
Therefore, apart from HOs, neither did much.

Their opponent Robbie West of Eastern only got 17 HO, but got 10 kicks & 1 goal.

Yes Tomi Johnston did well again 27 disps, of which only 3 were Handball Receives, 5 M, 5 T & a goal. His improvement & consistency continues.

Phantom,
Can we please delete this name from all future posts about junior footballers. He is obviously not worth a crumpet as a player, and we wouldn't want to mislead recruiters from other clubs who like to take advantage of your hard work. Not worth a crumpet.

Just read back through all the posts about Muston, and saw you mentioned nobody seemed to be talking about him.

When I asked a recruiting team about West for Qld yesterday, he told me that the bigger disappointment was Muston doing his knee which I hadnt heard about yet.

He said was shaping as a top 10 pick, and in his opinion, may still be one, even with his knee trouble.
