Welcome Noah Cumberland

on the Kayo replay. 2 minutes 40 remaining in the 3rd q. Video is pretty clear. But these attached screenshots aren't that clear. (not sure how to upload video or convert smaller clearer pics from .heic to .jpeg for this site?)... So watch the video if you would like. Seems to be some miscommunication between Pickett and Cumberland. Not sure who was called in; but Cumbos hands on head seem to suggest it was him. So much went wrong last night; so not blaming Cumbo for the loss.

Two Tigers standing about five metres off the Woofer n our kicker pin pointed the Woofers player. Yep one of our two should have come in and made a contest, but the kick was ordinary and there's another four Woofers running in to be at the fall if the mark was dropped. WTF? Once again a situation where we had the ball n should have been controlling the play yet the Woofers were all over it.

I was expecting a Pickett hanger but he just stood and watched. It was his to go for.

40% TOG. 3 disposals. Zero kicks.

Graham 35% TOG, 7 disposals
Banks 50% TOG, 10 disposals

You really going there with this  Graham in the midfield rotation looked like he was running with weights on. Banks on the wing for almost 3 qtrs.

Watched Cumbo carefully came on late in the 3rd when banks went off. Balta high ball comes in, Cumbo lands awkwardly and goes off. Blood streaming from back of head.

He comes back on start of last. Thought he played to the structure, 3 possies, 2 tackles, 1 mark he did ok nothing more nothing less.

Unfortunately, the ball was up the other end non stop.

We just got to keep playing him which will build his confidence that he belongs. Who knows he may also find his 2022 vibes.

There was a play during the last qtr when the ball finally managed to get to our forward 50 that Cumbo's scrambling ground ball efforts managed to nudge the ball out into a team mates space that set up one of our goals. Only a fractional bit of footy on the night, but we had pretty much nothing going on all night long so it was a welcome moment in the game. He scrapped for a crumb or two while the Woofers were busy feasting.

I just hope we encourage Noah to play his natural game.
Think there’s been too much focus on what he doesn’t do defensively when there aren’t similar expectations on Dusty & Shai.
Noah’s best football is as an attacking weapon. Match winning & ffs we haven’t had too many of those on our list. Encourage the creativity, that’s the hard stuff, don’t curb it for a few tackles that any hard working journey man can do.

Id love it if Noah was good enough to play by dusty and $hai's rules

a few points-
1- As Ezy says, he aint no Dusty or Shai, and 1 5 goal/8 disposal game doesnt make him one.
2- Defence is more than tackling- it is chasing when you arent going to catch someone to make them dispose of the ball, it is switching from an attacking mindset to a defensive one as soon as the opposition get the ball, and probably most importantly it is filling the area you are meant to when the opposition have the ball to stop the kicks to the areas you want to stop.- if one player doesnt fill their role the whole zone can collapse. (pretty sure you have commented how much better our full field defence was the game Dusty didnt play.)
3- players also need to follow team rules when they have the ball- a kick to the wrong spot can lead to an easy turnover and rebound.

a lot of that stuff, most of us cant really judge, but it appears to have been implied by coaches they are areas Noah has struggled with.
Hopefully he can return to his best attacking football, while also doing the defensive work.- unfortunately as a medium forward in our current team i reckon he is going to have his work cut out having much effect tonight.

What's happening or not happening b/w the ears has always been the problem with Noah. Just wonder whether the Ooooze can work some magic with this one...?

Cumbo can't function on the field with Dusty out there.

Cumbo will rocket to stardom after the Tiger King moves on. :))
