Interesting write up in Inside Footy this week on Kade Answerth from Sandringham. Genuine mid who was BOG in 2015 TAC Grand Final but went undrafted but is doing well in VFL. Sounds like he would be a good rookie pick up this year. Anybody know what the knock is on him ?

Big knock on Pongracic was his tank, if he can build that up and play as a permanent midfielder he'd definitely be under serious consideration.

Saw Pongracic play on Sunday morning (well the first quarter). Has the body shape of a park footballer now ( as did a few Frankston players....). Was surprised they only ended up going down by 7 goals as they were 7 goals down at qrt time!

Sikora didn't do much either which was disappointing. There was a guy called Cass playing for Frankston who looked ok out of the Dolphins defence.

Just googled Jayden Cass. 24 yrd old, after Eastern Ranges went to Box Hill then to Frankston. Hasn't been able to truly cement a spot but my google found that he was on our training list 6 years ago:
Training List
RICHMOND
Jayden Cass (Eastern Ranges)
Josh Free (North Ballarat)
Alex Goodingham (Dandenong Stingrays)
Dylan Grimes (Northern Knights)
Robbie Hicks (Calder Cannons)
Ben Jakobi (Sandringham Dragons)
Justin Kadhlefelt (Southport)
James O’Rielly (Ireland)
Graham Polak (Richmond)
Luke Tobin (Sandringham Dragons)

Jayden Cass

Height: 180cm
Weight: 67kg
DOB: 1/12/91
Recruited from: Eastern Ranges
Bio: Quick and agile half-forward who can also push up through the midfield. Smart footballer, who reads the play well, knows where the goals are and is very effective by foot off both sides of his body. Super impressive at Victoria screening with 2.88sec for 20m and level 15.4 in the beep test confirming rare pace and endurance.

Watched the first quarter on the VFL website stream (as its not broadcast on tv!) and it's a very uninspiring game. No outstanding players and quite a few players with non afl bodies of which Sam Baulderstone being one. He seems to have found a few of the 40kgs he lost a few years ago...

SA had another Willie Rioli playing for them. Nice kick and kicked 2 goals in the first qrt.

Michael Gibbons, must get rookied. Would play in our side this week!

He is averaging 30 disposals and 6.3 inside 50s a game, which ranks him No. 1 in the VFL in both categories, along with 7.3 clearances.

Pick after 50, I'm taking this boy.

Is he's running speed snail pace?

I've always been an advocate of the SLR but I get the feeling the movement is running out of oomph (in terms of producing quality, not quantity)

From my list above not too many SLR picked in the last say 3 years have become quality afl players. The only name that stands out is our own Sammy Lloyd.

I wonder if, come draft time, afl recruiters will draw less players from the State leagues?

Marcus Adams as the Bulldogs has been a great pick up.

I still think the state leagues still have their place. Particularly for the rookie draft, and for back up ruckman.

Hisham Kerbatieh kicked 5 goals and had 21 touches for the Bullants 2 weeks ago, overall his numbers have been decent this year and has been performing well enough to be considered as a rookie selection. Contested possessions have been up around the 50% mark and he's also winning a decent amount of clearances. Still unsure as to why he wasn't drafted last year.

Another player to watch is Jye Bolton, former Collingwood rookie who is playing for Claremont. The last three weeks he's notched up 37, 36 & 40 possessions and looks like he's ready for a second chance.

We were both fans of Hisham, I'm still baffled he didn't get picked.

I think Carlton will snaffle him.

Also liked Ben Ross (again) and Jye Bolton (formerly of Collingwood) also did well (his running style reminded me of one Ben Cousins with thatt "leaning forward " style.) and no, I'm not saying he,s anywhere near as good.
Yes Bully, I remember Jye from several years ago.

Would still only be 25 going into 2017. Very pacy too.
