Welcome to the Tigers Marlion Pickett!

A lot to like, however I’d be giving him a few more in the VFL first, not saying he couldn’t play well in September but geez it would be hard for him to adapt to the pace that quickly

Both need another game in reserves.
Then hopefully ready to go
Good position to be

Reckon give Pickett another games in the VFL and if he backs it up with another solid performance chuck him in for the last two rounds and let's see what he offers.
I appreciate as the team gets closer and closer to the pointy end of the season that the MC will be trying to hone its best 22 for finals, but he does appear (even though based on very limited show time) to have some X-factor, which could be vital for the team comes finals.
For some reason, based more on a hunch than anything else, I would prefer to have him in the team than say either Ellis or Short or Butler.

Not sure he’ll have earned enough trust in the match committee or playing group to be coming in now or for finals.

Everyone who plays for the Tigers has to really earn their spots and know what others are doing, as well as what they’re doing.

A few training drills and a couple of VFL matches won’t cut it at the pointy end.

Too many with credits already in front of him.

And that's a fair point, Midsy.
Just reckon the MC might be interested in creating another dynamic that could prove to be gold.
The job is in front of Pickett, I guess, so it will be interesting to see how he responds in the next two weeks.

Played well on his VFL debut, showcased his marking, kicking and evasive skills, and laid a ripping tackle. Will just get better and better.

In 9 games in the WAFL before he hurt his finger he averaged 20 disposals per game, so he's playing up to his ability for his level of fitness. Even at 27 his fitness will improve with more time at the tigers. Great to have him as insurance this year but needs a decent pre-season to cope at senior level.
That must have been in 2018 as he only played 2 WAFL games in 2019

He broke his finger preseason , played Rd 6 ( i think) & rebroke it in the following game

Spot on. I love the idea of the fairytale, but coming from too far back at the top of the straight to overtake others before the winning post.

I can understand the conservative sentiment around Marlion’s possible selection but our MC have been successfully aggressive in selection in 2019.

Towner and Graham 2017 would be the precedent that says that not only are we capable of making a decision to include Marlion in the finals, but that the club's decision could be inspirational.

I've seen enough of our match committee/footy dept over the last two years to leave this sort of decision, and the Rance one, to them. They know a *smile* lot more than we ever will.

I find it incredible that we could pick up a 27 year old player from the WAFL that could potentially, more or less, walk into the starting line up of one of the strongest teams in the AFL! It’s hard to fathom how many of these type of players are out there.
Reckon the AFL should up the minimum age for drafting. Maturity both physically and mentally have a lot to do with it.

I think a lot of it comes down to clubs not wanting to take a risk given some players past etc. The club backs itself in with our culture to bring the best out of players like Stack & Pickett not only on field but off it as well.

It's an area I think clubs can substantially improve on. Even younger prospects, some just don't come on at 18 years old when most get drafted. Some mature at 20 to 21 but they are often lost to the top level of footy simply because they don't get a chance. Wasn't that long ago that recruiting mature age players like Pickett wasn't the done thing.

He brings a different dynamic that we don't have, erm... dare I say it... McLeod-esk.......... So barring any mishaps I expect the brains trust will devise a role and wheel him out at some point.

I thought our McLeod was Eggman, or is it Stack? Pretty sure we already have a couple of McLeods.
