Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Not on your Nelly. They'd take him apart. Defending isn't his natural instinct and he still has so much to learn if that's where he's going to play.

That defensive winger spot Caddy and KMac are training for is more likely his go, getting back to help the defence, providing a target for the kick out of defence, then racing out along the wing and kicking looooong to Jack and Tom.

Tend to agree.
Got the impression at last weeks VFL game that he was given licence to just take the game on even when playing back e.g. if he felt he could run past the bloke on the mark and stream down field he could try it.
So if he stays in the backline it could be a free wheeling runner rather than a shut down type.

Not sure he was given licence. And therein lies the problem. Think game plans don’t adhere to his natural instincts yet. Needs to be reprogrammed like Bolton. Play to the structures blah blah blah.

IN the last quarter they played him in the square as a follower and then a ruck, so they may have given up the plan to play him as a pure defender this year: Garth will fill that role better. But maybe Chol's spot is on the line. In which case they need to trial it sooner than later. In Nankalta. Out Choldo.

MC will possibly be considering Balta this week due to the height of WCE forwards, with occasional chop out in the ruck.

While Balta played well in the vfl, first year player Ben Silvagni kicked two on him. Silvagni also managed to play nearly the entire first half in defence

Just watched the VFL game, was awesome. Watching him run up the wing the term "Run, Forest, Run" came to mind :) What speed

His speed and power ratio for a tall is so very rare. If we can harness it and develop him correctly, we have another Rance on our hands. Hope he has the hunger to succeed

We were desperate for talls and played him early.

We saw what he is capable of just needs to find consistency - his potential as a player is off the charts.

Agree. Not sure what position he'll end up but it will be fun finding out.

Can't see us experimenting with Balta now. Need to choose a position for him and let him grow into the position at VFL level and some consistency. Hasn't been doing enough at VFL level to warrant selection, particularly this late into the season.

Big rumour Balta is coming in to play a defensive roll on McGovern.
That's not hard.
Keep the same 6 as last week, just stick hamburger vouchers in their shorts
