Not sure it is most. I agree with TBR and think he raises very valid points. Premierships are not won by individuals.
The. Current policy DOES nOT IMPLY a premiership player is the only thing that matters as that would suggest that no other criteria can justify life membership which is patently false. In reality the traditional qualification which has always been 150g or x amount of service off field remains unchanged . The amendment does imply that a premiership player is the equal of what anyone else has contributed to the club with respect to life membership which is a worthy contention

The rule generally works well - Marlion is the (almost incredible) exception. Most players have to work damn hard over several seasons to get into (and stay in) a premiership side, and earn their life membership. If Graham had not been injured, Pickett would not have played.
Think he gave enough value in his story, his tricks and his actual game to be a worthy anomaly!
There should be a process for giving life memberships to those “morally” entitled, too.
Geez we’ve got some supporters with tough, sad lives. We’re in the middle of one of the greatest eras of the Club's history and still things aren’t good enough. Too many life members, players will go backwards, recruiting still off the mark, our best assistant has left, blah, blah, blah...
How hard is it just to enjoy the ride...?! TWO PREMIERSHIPS IN THREE YEARS...!!! Let it sink in a bit. Every chance of adding a third in the next year or two as well.
I couldn’t be any happier with what the club is at the moment. Give them all life memberships for all I care. What difference does it make? Does it really matter?
All I know is we’re winning a *smile* load of football games in a way that’s brilliant to watch. Long may it continue. In the words of the Sunnyboys: “I’m a happy man.”

Given the connection within the team and the overall administration of the club I'll take Gale and Hardwick any day.
The convention is play in a premiership, get a LM.
How would it look if Benny said "sorry Marls, we are going to break with convention and not give you one".
Now that would be an administrative, PR and governance train wreck.

If anything screams of extenuating circumstances i think this is it. Besides it doesnt happen but basically once in a lifetime so I am happy for it to have happened.
In 2017the commentary about Jack Graham was he’d played 5 Games & was going to be made a Life Member.
His response when asked about the pull from Home & the team he grew up barracking for,The Crows,I intend playing 150 Games for Richmond.
I think there’s a parallel here.
Marlion has played 1 Game & will be made a Life Member,when asked about his future,with a hint about WA.He said in the AFL he would only play for Richmond because they had faith in him.

I totally agree with this. Life member for any club I have been involved in was an indication of extraordinary service to the club over a long period of time. It was always given with careful consideration and not given lightly. I don't think it should be given just for being a premiership player. It 100% devalues the the weight of life membership.
You know we're going alright when people find things like this to carry on about. Premierships are the name of the game, our club feels anyone who runs out on the day and helps deliver us one gets a life membership. Thats it. What can we carry on about next?
Not carrying on I just have an opinion on what should constitute a life member. All the sports clubs I have been involved with, the aim is to win a premiership but none of them automatically qualified all players as a life member for winning one. The life member was reserved for those who provided exceptional service to the club. There's definitely been a change of thought by the Tigers as in the last 6 years there have been 68 life members announced (before this years additions). The previous 68 additions took 24 years. The previous 68 before that 28 years.
I guess so. How about you start writing emails to the Club about it, and I'll watch the footy and enjoy myself...!
