Draft picks 2019

Interesting and good news. How did the pies get that pick?

From the Aish deal I believe.
Freo got it from the Saints as part of the Hill trade.

So if Saints finish bottom 4 in 2020, we should have 2 x picks in the first 30 taking into account club tied players.

What kids missed out that were expected to be picked?
If you want to have a spew have a read of the hearld sun.
Port steals draft
Pies get massive boast
Geelong find gem from the amateurs
GC pick 6 kids that will walk out by 2022

noone knows who will be good, its bullshhit

Has live trading turned the draft into another corrupted AFL racket? Just seems ludicrous.
Everything about the AFL is corrupt and incompetent. If it was only a little bit dumber and a lot nastier it could be a branch of the Liberal Party.

since when has majac been a player?
Aliar Aliar maybe but Daw no
Happily take reaching the level of Allir Allir. But Majac was really firing up at CHB for Norf before his terrible fall. Both highly athletic - like Biggie. Heap of potential.
There was one game where Daw and Allir featured in a great tussle. The critics thought Daw had the edge.

Just from the outside the club just did a ’innie minnie mo’ this year.
*Where’s our usual WA kid?
*Where’s our skilful kid that doesn’t go near it?
*where’s our KKP kid that is too scared to contest?
*Where’s the kid that walks away from the game?

where’s Shitter Sheehan the geelong flog this year?
(The same bloke that said Fiora would dominate games and Pettifier was leadership material)

Go and buy yourself the Hearld Sun tomorrow
Get your hopes and dreams blown away in 2 years time. :rotfl1

The Zip Draft report 2019.

*collingwood have 2 picks and as expected both are guns and future captains and premiership players.
*Gold Coast are the huge winners in the draft, pity in 2 years time 90% of them will be in other colours.
*Melbourne have picked kids that played well for there private school.
*Geelong thinks every draft is 1999.
*Essendon hasnt picked a good kid up since Jason johnson.
*Brisbane think they’re the best recruiting team.
*Hawthorn enter another draft with only 2 picks. AGAIN
*Sydney continues to draft some softkoks
*Carlton pick up 5 kids, the same 5 will be delisted together.

The media are circling ‘the age’ today
“Tiger swaps stripes to become a Giant.”

in 2 years time “ giant wants to become a tiger”

If the rumours are right, they can take their anger out on Carlton, who pinched who we'd be taking at our pick. That's obviously had a cascading impact on the rest of the draft. If you don't believe that, they're Carlton. Blame them anyway.
Do you recon Carlton took our player or just a story made up to explain SOS’s insanity?

I'll bet this spoiled Dodoro's night. Having his pick matched, but then opening the door for the Tigers to steal two other Lions Academy prospects by stripping away Lions picks.
The dodo drew blood and the tigers jumped in to finish them off

Word is Brisbane not happy about not matching our bids. They didn’t have the points to do so. Essendon stuffed them up by making an early bid on another academy at pick 37 which they matched.
There it is. We don't try to play 3D chess. We keep it simple. We liked these guys. We bid on em. And the Lions could not match. Simple.

Know nothing about any of the draftees apart from the little highlight videos.

Seems a strong theme of hybrids with pace and strength. Seems they could all play the Caddy role quite easily, which I reckon might be our prototype going forward.

Really liked what I heard on the Tiger Talk podcast last week.

Something about how over a long period of time the drafting in U.S. sports has shown that people overestimate their ability to judge a talent’s value, so it’s better not to over-indulge in on-the-day trading for specific talents.

The difference between talents really isn’t that large, so when a Gold Coast or a Carlton are paying to jump ahead and pick someone they rate significantly higher, over the long run they’ll end up losing with this method.

Meanwhile, Richmond play it smart and reduce our chance of hurting ourselves from our own natural biases.

No doubt we’re a club that is well aware of the shortcomings of human perception.

Rather than bother reading a single AFL media article on the draft, the real story of the draft to me is how the #1 team of the past few years is attempting to stay ahead of the curve.
