Queen Leonora in at Flemington - in race 5 - may be a chance to run a place in race 6! First up and will get $2,500 for 9th so probably better than the barrier trial she was going to have. Both Fabric and My Pendant back in work and jumped out nicely at Werribee a week or so ago. Not far away.

Couple of roughies worth a dollar each way today - Syd R6 N11 War Baron, GC R4 N1 Kemalpasa and Murray Bridge R3 N18 Zume Forward. Not much value at Flemington although The Lord Mayor at around $10 may be worth an interest. Pinyin should win the last.

Good punting all.
Queen Leonora ran above expectations - 6th - still earned $2,500 but run was full of merit. Needs further (and weaker).
As for my roughies etc. the tale of my day. Both War Baron and Kemalpasa ran 4th and then Pinyin's jockey got lost at the 400m mark and by the time it got clear the bird had flown. Might be a muncher. The Lord Mayor did the right thing and stuck his neck out when it mattered so not all a tale of woe - finished marginally ahead. Well done Ezy, 3 years in a row Invincibella has won that race - some feat.

As predicted last week both My Pendant and Fabric going around (smoke haze permitted) at Flemington tomorrow. My Pendant in a shallow listed Sprint over 1000m - probably a bit short and they may go too quick for her but will be strong at the end - just a matter of how far away she is at the time. Couldn't support her with any enthusiasm other than she is fit and well and is honest. Happy to watch at this stage.

Fabric in race 6 drawn barrier 1, should position just behind the leaders and if gets the right breaks will be hard to beat. Inside was not the place to be last week though so may need some Willo magic. $3.8 TAB is fairly short and would not be putting the house on at those odds.

Couple of roughies for the weekend Flem Race 9 No 1 Jack Regan, Rosehill (wet track?) Race 8 No 11 Birth of Venuw, Eagle Farm Race 8 No 3 Mr Bellagio. ACNR (All care no responsibility)

Good punting all

Ive had 5 bets this decade, and 4 of them have won.

make of that what you will.

Never does the term horses for courses apply more than a Flemington 1200

Hifalutin in the straight 6. Been scorching the track, loves the straight and the trainer has steadily built her up to a packet of camels a day.

Unfortunately things went pretty much as predicted. My Pendant was too close meaning they didn't go quick early and then wasn't sharp enough to sprint with them when it mattered. Fabric tried to get through on the inside and then was forced back to the inside when wanted to get to the outside but fitness probably told in the end and just missed a place (backed her each way of course!

Of my roughies, Jack Regan was $15 to about $6 but raced tight most of the straight and didn't finish off as well as hoped - finsihed about 6th or 7th. Birth of Venus was $11 to $6 and got the money and Mr Bellagio was $19 to $7 and never looked likely.

Few weeks off for the girls before going around again.

We live to fight another day

Queen Leonora beaten a pimple last Sunday at Geelong but didn't back her as don't think she carries weight all that well. Probably going around at MV next Friday (7th Feb) in a 2050m BM 70. (that's about her level)

Fabric in the last at Caulfield Saturday has come up short at $2.70 - TAB did bet $3.10 for a few minutes. Is very short and not well drawn but has improved from her unlucky first up run and despite barrier 9 has an excellent chance. Just not sure the price justifies the risk! Having said that have had a crack.

My Pendant hopefully running at Caulfield next Saturday in a 1200m race - much more suitable.

Good punting all.

Bit of a play coming up for me Saturday.

Catalyst.

I think he'll win the Australian Guineas easily

and I think he'll win the C.S Hayes not so easily.

He gives Alligator Blood (who is very good) 2kg and AB's best is at 1400

whereas Catalyst best is at a mile.

But I think Catalyst is special. Watch him buffet and balance his way to win the NZ guineas with his head on his chest. Then watch him hit his head on the stalls, miss the start, and stroll past them (yes, ordinary field but AB has been beating ordinary field too), carrying 60kg first up.

I think he's the rare horse who refuses to lose.

backed catalyst in the G3 this sat and the guineas today.

hes short in both, but I say he wins both.

thought he gave gator 2kg, but its only 1 and they'll be level in the guineas regardless.

a few reason why he wins.

1. He overcomes trouble to win easily (see NZ guineas squashing at the 400 and last start head clash stalls)
2. He settles, head on chest and explodes when asked. He doesn't sprint, he explodes and puts several lengths on opponents in 100m
3. Gators trainer uttered the death 'win, lose or draw, we're proud' today. In my experience, this translates to 'we will run 2nd at best'. I have never known a horse to win after the trainer utters the losers trinity - win, lose or draw. Ever
4 The deniers are saying Catalyst has beaten no-one. This is entirely true. However A) neither has gator and B) he ran an undeniably blistering final 600m first up humping 60kg. Sectionals dont really have opponents.
5 Flemington and the outside gate are perfect for his racing pattern IMO. Slow away, settle, break their hearts

so in summary.

get on fellas. This gelding is the horse of autumn. he's the mystic journey of 2020.

I'm declaring it

and the only time I was wrong was before.

Fabric is in the right race and has drawn beautifully (2). I still think she is one run short and would have preferred her back at 1400m but should not have to do too much work from the barrier so shouldn't be a problem. The main danger is if the track gets wet - she didn't appreciate the going at last start - at her best she should win, the price is about right but was happy to take the $4.20 when offered yesterday - with up to $50 back for 2nd or 3rd. Will be disappointed if she isn't in first 3. Annoyingly the trainer has the main danger in the race.....

All care no responsibility!

Love the confidence mate. Geez it will need to be a star to win.

Alligator will lead from gate 1 on it's ear. Is also a star and will be getting a start.

Catalyst might win the Guineas, not sure tomorrow.

What a crop of 3 year olds it is.

Has the track dried out at all in Brisbane? If so Femme Fireball is a huge chance in the last. Probably not so much if it’s still wet.

Thanks Tigerman, race went as planned - copped a bit by deductions with the 4 scratching but will take the win and move on. Willo happy with her and reckons still. Some upside. Not sure where we go but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s to a Group 3 1600 at Flemington on 7th March.
You were stiff Easy, that was a great race with Alligator Blood - the 1kg difference told in the end.

A good day at the track.

yep. helluva race. Gator had it all on his terms, race pattern, weight, distance, peak fitness and is obviously one talented and tough nag.

But The Cat will win the guineas.

Needs to be ridden back easy.

the trainer said they were all taken by surprise by how well he jumped on saturday and yep Damien lane will be instructed to settle back and swoop.

I think there only ever one winner in a dog fight with The 'Gator.

the element of surprise will certainly be implemented in The guineas.

I also think The Cat is a pure miler, comfortably out to 2000m, whereas Gator is more a 1400m horse stretching up to a mile.

all things being equal, 1kg relief sees him win by a length and quarter.

For your sake easy, I hope he trots in like MJ did last year.

My Pendant in at Caulfield Saturday. Was going to wait for Flemington next week but a fairly weak field and prospect of a damp track both enticed us to Caulfield. Her wet track form is excellent - is looking for the 1400m and Oliver is 2 from 2 on her. Well drawn to sit back and sprint home. Willo already committed to another horse in the race as we weren't going here but Olly is just as good so nothing lost there.
Opened $5 but now out to $6 ($7 at Sportsbet with money back for 2nd or 3rd). Excellent each way price. Is also race 4 no 4 so there is an omen for me!

Good punting
