Hardwick has spoken recently of matches "looking like a Richmond game". On paper at least, this looks like a Richmond game.
What is a Richmond game? When we are older?

Do you have the stats for winning percentages based on the Hgt and Wgt columns? Would be good as there might a sneaky method to improve the punt.

Not sure height & weight holds any more than curiosity value. In greasy conditions at night it may well help to be shorter. I'll have a look at it when I get a chance.

Richmond game = edge in maturity and experience, and Brisbane's goalscorers aren't as reliable.

age: 63-15-1 (80%)
games: 83-20-1 (80%)
goals: 71-34-1 (67%)

all three: 41-7-1 (84%)

Not necesarily a Richmond game then - any team would dominate with those advantages i would have thought

Hardwick's teams have been especially reliable.

All teams in the same period

age: 64%
games: 66%
goals: 60%

all three: 70%

For the record, taller teams since 2010 have won 48% and heavier teams 56%. Taller and heavier = 54%.

Of course the past is not the future.

Talking about stats, Sportsbet, Dusty to kick 2 or mores goals - $3.10. Cameron to kick 2 or goals $1.72. Try and work that out?

i don't buy this 'giving a guy a game to work his way into form'.
you'd be playing guys who are showing form. wouldn't you? For me that's Markov over Stack.
that said, i hope Sidney has a good one.

stackman wasn't as bad as some are making out.

Olegs game was reasonably neat. But when he dropped that chest mark deep in defensive 50, and it was only because Grimes is an animal that it didn't result in a goal, I said to ezj, unfortunately for Oleg, that's all it takes to lose your spot when your on the fringe.

not being hard on him, he played a serviceable game (as did stackman),

the difference being, Oleg was on a HBF, and we bought the AA HBF'er back in.

when your a fringe player with the reigning premier,

you need to make it impossible for the MC to drop you, like Notorius and Mabs are.

With DTLD having some more knife work, Notorius is pushing for our MVP,

especially next week on Dixon.

On riewoldts tiger time last night, Leppitch said he basically picks the back 7 players. So he made the decision to replace Vlastuin with Oleg.

Stack is in the forward/mid mix, which is a larger and more flexible bucket of 15 postions. Oleg would have had to been picked in that mix to get a game tonight.

That's the only consistent goal scorer they have.
Sportsbet can't use Aker.

I've got this suspicion that with Brisbane's tall forward line this week, we might see Balta struggle a little more on the one on ones.

Whatever happens, we need to stick fat with Balta, and ride out some bad games that will be inevitable this year.

He's still playing visibly restricted by instruction and this means he'll continue to be slightly tentative until both confidence, and understanding, become second nature. I mean confidence is his first nature, but the full buy in to his role has caused him to play a little more within himself, while also cementing his spot in the team.

In my ideal world, seeing as our whole defensive line will be stretched (literally) tonight by their tall forwards, I would give Balta Rance's role with some sort of official ceremony. Give him a decorative Cape for his locker, and tell him that he needs to get to every defensive aerial contest with full speed and a fist. Let Vlossy and Grimes do the rest.

partially agree. yeah hes playing the DTLD role, which while isnt natural to him, his overhead game allows. agree he is the heir apparent to the Rance role.

dont agree Brisbane taels will stretch him. Hipwood plays like hes Caleb Daniels height - Notorius will monster him. Grimes obviously spends most time on Charlie.

Raynor will have a bust out game soon and has to matched up accordingly (Vlastuin). Broad probably take Berry .

when the ruck men rest forward, I'd assume Notorius will mind them and Liam Baker can take Hipwood (and metaphorically tower over him)

all fair EzyT.
but I actually thought Oleg showed a bit more going forward than Sid and produced less errors (despite that chest mark).
no issues with our backline at all. a no brainer Vlast coming back.

Yep, gotta get DLTD right for West Coast at the pointy end.

DLTD and the Mars Balta are a great match up for Kennedy/Darling.

Need them both playing and playing well.

I'm starting to plan for 2020 life without DTLD.

2 surgery in one season doesn't normally bode well.

In my planning though, Notorius monsters Kennedy and Grimes renders Darling never the same again.

we can cover DTLD at the moment, but an injury to Notorius would be catastrophic atm.

Yeah Oleg was solid, and unlucky.

But if you polled 100 PRE'ers with the question

'Who is more likely to win the Norm Smith medal'

a) sidney stack
b)Oleg Markov

I reckon it would be 98 votes to 2 if people were being honest with themselves.

Stackman will hit form and his upside is enormous.

Oleg is handy depth/role player.

How long has Houli been in quarantine? (eg - do we expect him back against Port?)

Houli flew up last Thursday evening 30th July.
Assuming 14 days starts from and includes 31st July.
So can leave quarantine on the 14th August

Means Houli will be available for Gold Coast on the 17th August

Markov out made sense to me. Whilst I dont think Stack played well last week - for structure purposes it makes sense that Markov goes out, despite it being a tough call on him given I thought he did well.

Eggy needs to stand up tonight.
We can't afford to have to 2 soft ":*"' playing across half back.
The only match up i see for him is the x Geelong dud.
