Not according to Tim Watson, (or was it Garry Lyon) , reckons no way should anyone overpay for a player like Broad, he reckons take him out of the Richmond set up and he is just an average player.
In fairness to Watson, we all said the same thing about Essendon. There was a general consensus on here that if you took the peptides and performance enhancing drugs out of the Bombers then they'd be average.

We were correct

If Broad wants to be paid and we can't - then that answers itself. He deserves a pay day.

Broad is 27 and a 2 time premiership player. Suns might offer him a clear $100k more a year than we can offer him.

Wright just wants structure and opportunity, his pay cheque is something he knows he is still earning.

I think Broad for Wright would be us paying overs for onfield effect - but the cap space we could save might be incredibly important. The team is going to have a real battle on their hand. The deal would be risky, but with an intense cap squeeze on its way - it might be the type of deals we have to make.

The only thing that would sweeten the deal of course is - if Alex decided to come back at a discounted rate  If he has not managed to save his marriage, his Nepal trekking dreams are DEFINITELY in smoke - why wouldn't he want to come back now? I have nfi where he is at, but man - what a *smile* great outcome that would be for our 2021 hopes
Where would wright play at Richmond and have u conceded CCJ already gone

Sometimes I forget Broady's even playing. He just blends in. A no fuss, tough, skilled back line player.

Would hate to lose him.

My changes
Delisted..Miller Naish Cathwaite Turner

Trade out.

Graham to Adelaide 2nd rounder
Higgins to hawthorn 2nd rounder
If Cj wants out trade him to GWS for Green or Perryman (he will replace Caddy).
Caddy to Melbourne for a 2nd rounder.

Trade in
Brayshaw or Crouch.
Perryman for Cj
Try to get Pearce from freo
Even try to get Doodeee from Adelaide.

Don't keep our 1st & 2nd rounders this year.

No way would id trade Higgo, guy is incredibly popular. Losing him, Rance & Ellis is consecutive weeks would be a club culture disaster

Ruck 1st, fwd 2nd. But if he is on $600k or around abouts, its all null & void. That is stupid money we cant afford to carry

Have no idea with CJ. I'd like him to come in and kill and by seasons end we are talking about trading Soldo - but it looks unlikely. Crows will be snooping big time

CCJ is the one I'm worried about. Plenty of good potential ruckmen have left other top clubs due to lack of early opportunity. Wasn't that the case with Nanks at the Swans?

I don’t understand why some posters are worried about cap space. With the big hole left by Rance there is no problem unless we trade for a marquee mid. Get players through the draft and pick trades should leave enough for a salary bump for some of our more vulnerable players who have been on average money. I think we need to hold on to ccj at all costs. That means bumping jack out of the firsts next year. I think we’ve missed a good opportunity to give him a run early in the year by continuing to play an out of form jack. Too late now.

Agree with you on playing CCj earlier.

I think part of the issue with all clubs is not only do they not know the salary cap for 2021 but also list size, makes list management impossible.

Trading like that reminds me of the 70 when we traded out Teasdale, Roberts and Jackson for Pitura disaster of a trade for us.

Upset the fabric of the team.

He’s contracted but will have itchy feet big time

He can scratch em next year then and try breaking into the side.

2021 is the year he will start getting a look in, especially with JR8 probably on the cusp of winding it up.

I wouldn’t have a clue about pay structures , however I think Lynch’s pay was said to go up in his 3rd year, Dusty’s no doubt will be around the mil, interesting budgeting times.

With our back half getting a little on the older side , Broad is one player I wouldn’t want to lose, his a very good Mr fix it re types he can play on and I would imagine he’d be great for the young players coming into the side, also seems the type who could play well past 30 and a crucial thing about Punt Rd now is the fact his a great club man.

Broady to get a pay bump. Can't let him go.

Too many unknowns at the moment. Salary cap, list sizes, retirements, delistings, transfer requests, drafts etc.
