I'd be both surprised and disappointed if the club doesn't appeal this charge.

It's not about the sum of money; it's about righting a wrong.

Irrespective of whether Vlastuin accentuated the contact, he was clipped high after the mark was taken. For that, he was justifiably awarded a 50. There can be no dispute about the late, high contact.

So if the umpire wasn't sucked in or fooled, what is the charge intended to penalise?

In effect, all Vlastuin did was make sure the umpire was aware of the contact. Bit like the characters who throw their arms out when they reckon they've spotted a deliberate out of bounds.

Any properly functioning judiciary will chuck this out at the first opportunity.

Not worth challenging, but, let's face it, Bell-Chambers struck Vlastuin after he had marked the ball.

There is only one player who could be reported for that incident, and it is not Vlastuin. Not that I reckon Bell-Chambers should be reported, then again, it was higher contact and likely more forceful than Lynch's supposed indiscretion.

The AFL has become a f***ing joke.

DS
I'd bet my left one, that if Lynch did what Bellchambers did he would've got reported, and there would be a media outrage.

exactly right. He knew there was possibly going to be contact from a big guy, they were going opposite directions. He was low down on his knees so instinctively as a protection to the head as he feels
Contact, he throws it back to protect the head. He had the mark anyway so he wasn’t trying to milk a free.
An absolute farce. Was Bellchambers trying to hit the ball? Did he get a fine?? No, he got 50
Metres for the late contact. Wtf is going on

Its a farce alright!
Vlossy got contact to his head & was correctly awarded the 50m penalty. Why the *smile* is he being fined?
Is the AFL now going to come out & say the umpire made a mistake in awarding the 50m penaly?

The only conclusion to make is that these clowns reckon if you get hit in the head, you are not allowed to blink.

and if they don't chuck it out what they are effectively saying is "The umpire is a dill and shouldn't get given another game".

This one has made it obvious there is an agenda against our great club. almost every player swings their head back when there is high contact. you can provide the afl 100 instances this year alone. we should send the afl some of these clips (with the woodcock backflip at the top) and tell them to back off.

... and the umpire who runs in and pays the 50 is Stevic, closing in on 400 games, 41 finals, 7 GFs... best umpire going around. No hesitation in paying the 50. But Michael Christian knows better.

The difference with the woodcock one was that he didn't get any contact high, it was pure staging.

It was by far and away the worse one, managed to twist his body in the opposite direction of the contact which I'm pretty sure if that was due to the contact is actually against physics as we know it.

Either Woodcock has found a new definition of physics or it was the most blatant flop of all of them and was never called out.

So they have created a new charge "exaggerating contact".

The AFL should make a fortune every week, starting this week when Shuey and Gaff throw their heads back like the old
wrestling clothesline move. If they truly serious, they can pay their loan off by Xmas this year.

Shuey was up to his old tricks again yesterday. Third quarter I think. Taranto got him high (legitimate free kick, to be truthful) but you'd have thought by the way Shuey performed his now-famous Astonishing Whiplash Manoeuvre (patent pending) that he was auditioning for the WWE.

Taranto gave him a verbal spray and planted a double-handed Dusty into his sternum for which 50 would normally have been awarded... but I suspect the umps thought Shuey deserved it.

The incident was left at that, much like Vlastuin's should have been.

Time for Michael Christian to give someone else a go. This decision is a howler of the highest order.

yeah saw that and chuckled. Shuey does it all the time. I'm surprised we didn't get a fine for it.
