Adam Saad

I would take him in a heartbeat at the right price. $400-$500k is fine.

They're completely different players for mine. And Saad is a far superior player.

In what way do you se him as superior?

The thought of us having to deal with Dodoro makes me feel ill.

So very many ways.

Markov has made good strides this year but Saad is a top shelf player.

Averages from 2020:

Saad
19 disposals, 2.9 marks, 2.0 tackles, disposal efficiency 80%, 405 metres gained, 1%s 3.6, rebound 50s 4.5, intercepts 5.4
Markov
11 disposals, 2.7 marks, 1.0 tackles, disposal efficiency 70%, 257 metres gained, 1%s 2.2, rebound 50s, 1.7 intercepts 3.8

And importantly, Saad is just two years older than Markov.

Saad is a good player, however with baker short and markov do we need him? Unless we have plans to move baker to the midfield. This would make sense.

Saad is in the starting 18 of all 18 clubs. Markov may get a regular start in a lower team, but is a fringe player at Richmond. Plus as I said, they are different players. Saad plays in the same mould as Houli in that quarterback role. Markov is a quick utility who can play forward or back. They are not even comparable as players.

Oh, and what @Number8 said.

I think those knocking Saad are a bit harsh but he's not the one we'd be needing (especially at top dollar)

Yep, I'm one of those and part of it is that I despise Essendon.
I'm just a knucklehead when it's all said and done but if the real experts at Tigerland went down that path and he took off those *smile* colours and Bachar loaded him on the boat, took him into the middle of the bay and scrubbed off those filthy bomber germs .... he'll have my support!

Saad clearly superior to Markov.

If Houli retires, Saad would be a great replacement.

Is Houli retiring?
As much as I rate Saad, and I really do rate him highly, I doubt we'd be making enquiries unless Bachar's time was coming to an end.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me if we took the chance to secure Saad now, given he appears to be gettable, even if Bachar goes on another year.

The great man is a calf injury away from missing plenty of footy.

And an investment in Saad would be with a view to him being an important player for several seasons to come.

Essendon *expresses interest in Jack Graham*
Richmond: "We'd want Saad."

That's how I see the talk coming about.

Essendon makes it easy for Saad to get some of those stats as the is the go to player for run and carry so is on the receiving end of of other defenders work.

In the games Markov played Short and then Houli were also in the run and carry group so our game plan shares the duties around.

In 2020 over 70% of his possessions were uncontested

We already have a quarterback in Short who is far better by foot left or right. And yes you are right that Markov is quick but being 10% faster than Saad is a huge plus.
