Game Day - Richmond vs Brisbane - QF 2020

This is a good post. I agree re Astbury. Saw signs of the defence being more unbalanced in the Adelaide game too, when Dave came back. Not sure why or how - but its just mucked up the connection or all the backline. During the Adel game, I thought it was just Balta being unsettled with Dave back - more about where does he play - but far more obvious tonight. Incl Flossy and Grimes.

A few players had poor games. Marlion, the 3 forwards, Houli, the defence as a collective. Too much just for Nank with no genuine ruck support. Forward line went back to being the frustration of earlier this season - with all the I50s being wasted.

Brisbane wont beat Geelong.
Not sure how it will work but we need Broad and Caddy back.

Vlastuin had a strange game, I think he still played fairly well, but he dropped several marks that he'd normally eat up every day of the week.

Still a big ask Carter.

Every needs to go right for us to get there.

I’d look at Balta as a second ruck / third forward now.

Chol out for Lynch.
Aarts out for Caddy.

Jack Lynch Martin
Rioli Balta Caddy

This would really stretch any back six.

We need contested marks down there, no more Hail Marys.

We need to separate oppo plus ones and that forward line is our ticket to the GF.

Season isn’t over yet.

Who's happy we offered Graham 4 years tonight??

Why? I thought he was good. Some massive over reactions from some on here tonight (not unusual when we lose I know, apparantly when we lose we can't beat anyone).

Why some on here seem to think Port are impenetrable over there I have no idea.

Although not ideal, I actually think the extra game if we can win next week might be a blessing in disguise with Edwards, Prestia, Astbury, Houli getting another game into them. Up against it though. Have to do it the hard way now.

I think we will win next week but not sure we can beat Port over there with them having the week off
Don’t count our chickens yet, we could very easily get mugged with the side balance all over the place

So you think we will magically win next week and then travel to Adelaide to knock off Port after they have a weeks rest with only Nank in the ruck. Wish I had your belief.
Why would it need to be "magical" to beat either the Dog's or the Saints ?..............when did either of those 2 teams scare us of late ? Why couldn't we beat Port in Adelaide, my word, some people sure do have short memories, at our Best, we beat anyone, we are the most talented team out there and have been for 4 straight years now. Some blokes are down on form, but maybe this is just the awakening that's needed to get a few back into the real world and realise that from here on out, any loss means the year is gone and this team has shown over the last 4 years they can comeback from adversity, no time to be throwing in the towel, they'll be back next week.

I like Balta getting the oppositions main man, his proven he can out mark not just spoil and also gives great rebound for us when they try to go through there main man , I’m not saying DTLD shouldn’t be there it’s just his moved down the rung a spot .
I am thinking we move Balta up forward and give nank some assistance

I'm still bamboozled by the Vlas HTB from the first quarter
Yes, me too...especially after it happened again another 10-15 times in the game but play on...even happen to Vlas again right at the end of the game when it went over the boundary line...play on.

How Chol was selected after last week’s game is disgraceful and a blight. I love the Tiges but tonight we’ve totally blown it and our season is over if we make it to Port! Poor form by the boys and not helped by the laughable umpires! It’s been a good run but we’ve been too conservative with selection . Lynch said he was right to go but we’ve kept him back for the prelim , and this may have cost us another flag .

Selections has been our biggest issue in finals under Hardwick period.

We may have lost this game but our journey to the final is not lost. We can see where our problems were so they can be rectified. Just hope the MC see it!

Heaven help the lions if we play them again.

Not worried about Port. Prelims are avery nervy affair for favourites. Geelong should have beaten them yesterday. Great grunt midfielders plus Gray but other than that pretty hit amd miss by foot. Very good pressure team though. Should be a ripper game if it eventuates.

I think our rust was evident today. Prestia started on fire but ran out of puff. Shed never got into it. Actually warming to Broad in as well and Balta forward and second ruck.

Astbury Grimes Broad
Short Flossy Houli
Kmac Cotchin Caddy
Rioli Bolton Shed
Balta Lynch Jack
Nank Martin Graham

Lambert Prestia Baker Castagna

I can see where you are coming from but Hardwick won’t change his structure now.

He will back the team in to get the job done.

Lynch alone changes our outlook. Had Lynch played tonight, Andrews doesn’t do as he pleases.

Caddy the other one that needs to come in.
