Dimma said that Lynch was 98 percent right to go for last week.
Makes me wonder why we didn’t play him.
backed fired.
Same here, 98% is pretty close, I bet others are playing less fit than that. Wonder if there was something different like an issue with his hand again?

Fair dinkum, if Chol is selected this week we are basically telling all our seniors that you will be gifted games and all our next tier in reserves that you will not get a game, no matter what your form is...

He is the only player i've ever seen where i wish they were delisted at half time. just to prove a point to the others. he is that bad.

Not only back fired but showed arrogance by informing the opposition he was not playing 5 days out given them a head start on planning for the game. I reckon if we don't win this year's flag there will be a little bit of shot ourselves in the foot with potential poor selections and blind loyalty to some underdone or under performers. Throw in the umpirs bias against us as well. Time will tell as I have no doubt it is ours to lose!

Forget the quoted number 98 - what he was saying is that they felt there was a risk
If he’d played and had even a slight twinge - there’d have been hell to pay - here and all over the media
Sometimes it just better to be safe than extremely embarrassed and stuffed for the rest of the finals

Which half forward was responsible for Rich? 10 coaches votes. Someone should pay price?
Mind you Brisbane got ALL the votes. Was it a 10
Goal margin?
Makes an interesting point about the game. The best 5 players on the field were from Brisbane, 50 metre penalty goals and generally we played poorly yet we got within 8 points in the last quarter.
If we happen to get to the GF I would really fancy us if we came up against the Lions

before there was any announcement there was speculation all over twitter that he wasn't playing because of the way he trained evidently. It's really hard to keep anything quiet in those hubs.

I'm a little confused about what Dimma meant when he said in hindsight we would have picked a different side last week. He basically said Nank was asked to do too much work without support. Isn't that what Chol was in the side for? What other option did we have to support Nank?

Nahas?
We might have qood team, but when it comes to team selection we are very ordinary.
How did they think Jack one out was enough pressure to Brisbane's defence? Seriously!
Everyone on this site had there reservations about Chol.

I guess when we get to the end of the season , we will look back on this finals campaign and discuss where it went right or wrong ,

if we go on to win the premiership . the brisbane game will be a distant memory ,

But if we get bundled out before the GF ,

There will be plenty say , we stuffed up at the first hurdle , the brisbane game

I actually like the idea of playing chol as second ruckman. He did well when nank was out during middle part of the year. We played 2 rucks last year and sure chol isnt soldo but it makes us more flexible. Chol was a lot better last week when he was in the ruck

Chols role was to fill the void left by Lynch. I dont think they used Chol enough in the ruck. I would like to know how many minutes Chol played in the ruck last Friday compared to minutes he has played in the ruck when he was teaming up with Soldo.

Yeah but what I don't get is Dimma's comment about team selection. If Chol wasn't there to help out Nank who else could we have selected? Soldo and CCJ not available; we don't have any other ruckmen.

This just proves that the MC, to their peril, are starting to ignore many of the inputs we make available to them for free and are making judgements largely based on their own (often misguided) opinions.

I believe that last week Chol was actually selected as Lynch’s replacement. He played more as a permanent forward than a back-up ruckman.

I can't see how Aarts can be dropped...

Our whole game is predicated on locking the ball in our forward half, playing off a short pitch instead of a long one, as per the Konrad Marshall book. So you can’t just remove Aarts because he didn’t kick a goal and put Caddy there who is not going to be able to put the same pressure on.

Don't get me wrong, I would like to see Caddy in, I just don't know who for...only option would be Aarts out and Bolton has to go forward...but Bolton is a weapon in centre clearances

I think (as we all do) he has had 2 poor games (OK 2nd half v Crows). With Lynch missing he gets a quality defender and right now not up to playing that role consistently. If he was to remain, stick him on a wing. He has good skills below his knees, he is smart, he has a lovely left foot, he is athletic but tank would not see him play 100% on a wing. They need to use him differently if he remains. Stretch the saints with JAck, Tom, more time up front NAnk??? Perhaps too tall and that plays into the St Kilda rebound game. We need our best tactics to stop them bouncing out of half back (as we do) ..

Instead of us sitting back wondering who we'll play after the Geelong vs Collingwood this weekend, and i would be feeeling confident in beating either of them to make the GF.
We now have to get over St Kilda and if we do, we get the joy of traveling to Adelaide to take on Port to try and make the GF.

Last weeks selections could possible the dumest decisions in the history of finals for RFC. Just when i thought Hardwick was a top coach, he pulls one of the dumbest decisions i ever seen.
