I wonder how many believers that Rance will come back out of retirement are left.
Our nine-year-old son is one who still believes!

He told me on Saturday he hopes Rancey will be right for round 1 next season.

He walked away from the game, can't see him coming back.
I'll throw one from left feild here: Heath Shaw

thats left of noam chomsky.

Heath is a likeable nutcase, but a nutcase.

as a coach, he'd make a great Vegas tout.

Sounds like a really good plan. But not sure Rance will be in for it. Which means it probably can't happen
I hope we ask him, Grimes has said how much he learnt from him. When he was out with his knee last year Balta said that he was fantastic to him with his knowledge and encouragement.

Are the coaching restrictions forcing the return of the playing coach

Having a semi retired player double up as a assistant coach who can also play ala Hodge may be the way of the future.

Rance could be our defensive playing assistant coach.

Rance playing again would allow Balta to show us his wares as a forward.

Gold Coast (SE - QLD).
If it’s true he had a relationship breakdown that influenced him, it can be a really *smile* time.

but if he’s bouncing back from it, he may come back and play.

trouble is with all richmond related media, it’s an easy way to get 100,000 + clicks

I guess stranger things have happened! I remember Caro saying it was on the cards a couple of months ago, which surprised me. Haven't heard anything since.

Not sure what arrangements were made payment wise when Rance retired, he was originally contracted until the end of 2021. I know he got some sort of payout, was that payment just for the 2020 season, or his total contract?
With the soft cap to be reduced, how about we keep Rance on the list for 2021, and he replaces Leppa as our defensive coach. This would give us more money to bring in a new high quality assistant coach.
He can train with the players, he might even get the hunger to play again.

No way.

Rance seemed relaxed when he announced his retirement and haven't seen anything in the press or internet about him changing his mind, only journo's click bate so I doubt we will ever see him playing AFL footy again at any club. I am also not aware if he has done any of the coaching courses the aspiring coaches go on so that is also doubtful. Perhaps someone who reads more Aussie press knows differently

Depending on whether he is interested, and the club things he's the right person.
We keep him on the list, and pay him out of TPP as our defensive coach, or as a playing defensive coach (he was basically doing that the last few years) if he wants to play again.
This would free up some money in the soft cap. Meaning an extra assistant coach, more development coaches or other staff, such as physio's and rehab staff etc.

A few posters very close to the club are pretty adamant Rance won't be back at the tigers and implying he is not welcome. Geez I'd love to know the full story. My contact within the club is now playing with the Saints so no info coming from that direction. Very suss all of it!
