Big boots to fill but here goes..

Day started early with coffee then over to PRO & watching Cumberland in rehab.
Was doing a pretty grueling series of exercises & run throughs with lots of lateral changes of direction.
Knee seems to coming along well.

Players came out & did a series of warmups before the game. A few drills just to get the legs moving.
Only Dave Astbury was missing that we noticed aside from those we know about in Houli, Prestia & Soldo.

Teams split up into two teams of 16 a side. Reds & Yellows.
Yellow side was our A side made up predominantly of our Premiership players.
Notable premiership players on the Reds were Pickett & McIntosh in defence. I guess as there were no wingers played today.
The rest were made up of the B graders, youngsters & hopefuls.

1st term.
As you'd expect the yellow team was pretty dominant.
Clearing the ball at will out of the middle. Lynch & Riewoldt were getting silver service.
No Astbury made their jobs easier but no few defenders could have stopped the way the ball was coming in.

Shai was everywhere. Has he got another gear? Reckon...
Graham awesome too winning plenty of the ball on the outside all day.
Cotch, Edwards & Dusty were Cotch, Edwards & Dusty.
Naish kicked a late goal for the Reds but it was largely one way traffic.
Kmac was super in defence for the Reds. Must have had at least 10 disposals at Q time. Finished the day with a heap.

Half way through D.Rioli appeared to roll his ankle? & limped off. Seemed to start walking it off so hopefully not too bad.
RCD copped a head knock after a heavy tackle. Nice shiner for him. Neither took any further part.

2nd term.

Dow spent plenty of time on the ball & was winning it well for the Reds. A couple of scrappy kicks which appears a slight flaw but he can sure find it.
Martyn too showed a lot of good signs. I really like this kid. Very physical & can win his own ball. Tackles stick.
McIntosh continued to rack up the ball in defence. Very vocal too.
Castagna kicked 3 goals this term & really worked into it well. Nailed DES in a strong tackle too after Egg made an error.
Cotch, Jack & Broady showed great leadership getting over to Derek & giving him support.

Dusty & Shai continued to do as they liked.

MJ didn't have much room with Broady keeping him in check but had a couple of shots at goal albeit under pressure.
Fridge also kept winning a heap of footy. Looks super fit..
Pickett had a really good quarter for the Reds again.
Samson Ryan was really starting to show some great signs this term..

3rd term
Graham continued to raise eyebrows. Best on IMO.

Jack Ross was excellent this quarter on the ball. He & Dusty did shuttle runs after the game together too..

Ryan continued his excellent work in the ruck. Rarely beaten at the bounce or throw ins. Surprisingly strong in the contest.
Two notable things were: Got sat on his ass by Nank but jumped up to win the clearance with a kick. Soon after hit Dusty with a lace out pass which had us all hi fiving. We might have a real player here..

Mabs worked his way into the game late after a quiet day. CJ was also pretty quiet. Biggie & Miller too.

Couple of free kicks/50m given for stepping off the mark although it was surprisingly unnoticeable during the game. Game possibly benefited from it even.

Highlights for me was:
The performances of all our young mids. Graham, Martyn, Shai, Dow & Ross. Cept RCD unfortunately injured.
Sampson Ryan's ruckwork.
McIntosh as a defender.

Lowlights:
Not too many of those looking for a list spot in the Red team really put their hand up. Mansell too was pretty quiet tbh.
That said there weren't many easy kicks out there against the premiership team in the AFL.
The scoreline Taz posted reflects the dominance.

Overall a very good hitout. We look really good as I joked with Mr B after plenty of Rainbows & unicorns at this time of year.

Only an intraclub but just great to watch live footy again with friends.. :)

And that folks is why there was no need for me to do a report today :) .

PS. Shai is *smile* ridiculous, belongs in the middle.

Also 100% agree on Samson Ryan, got skills this kid, in the last 2 weeks I have seen him pick the ball up off his shoelaces, take a strong contested mark, today he pretty much dominated the centre taps, Nank only getting even as Samson tired late in the 3rd. He is a good kick and has awareness when dishing off with his hands.
Some more endurance and strength who knows where things might lead, only thing missing today was some marks around the ground, showed the work ethic to run back into a hole at one point which was great to see, (even though Mabs led past him to grab the mark).
Look we may have talked him up prematurely but it was such a surprise to see what he did today.

Thanks for the reports gents.

Always on the lookout for those who stand up and fight on a team on the receiving end of a big defeat, sounds like Dow & Martyn did just that.

Great to see Fridge setting the standards too, think he will be our VC behind Cotch this year.

Ryan sounds good, he was a Brisbane Lions Academy player too wasn't he? They might regret not picking him up.

I were watching with @Tigers of Old , believe he will be giving a comprehensive PRE match report at some stage thus relieving me of my duties for the day.

Might add something later but am looking forward to his summary to see if it matches what my eyes were seeing.

If he starts calling himself Brutus - watch out!
