Got Scarlett, Scablett, Tommy Hawk all gifted as Father / Sons. Snaffled a Bartel n lucked into Duckwood because a few other clubs thought his knee was *smile*. Harry was a touch of recruiting genius, but for the rest there's nothing spectacular in the Moggies recruiting. Stevie J could just as easily have been a massive blunder, serious talent but also a massive *smile* head youngster.

Geelong great Gary Ablett junior says he is open to coming out of retirement and rejoining the Cats through the mid-season draft, in order to play in the finals

Excellent. Could this team get any slower?

Whats he run out of cash already, or sick of his missus?

Pricky must be sending him emotional drunken texts.

Surely not.

Does anyone find that a touch arrogant, given that they are currently tenth?

That’s Geelong for you. They’re struggling in the ruck as well so I believe an approach has been made to Sam Newman to nominate for the mid season draft. He’s right in their recruitment age hot zone.

Can you picture the media crap if he did come back mid season? We already had to endure all of last year with ” he deserves a premiership” crap. Would be unbearable this time around. I would be signing up to all social media ( I’m only on here atm) just to post on their platforms the reply “Why? He already deserted the cats twice!!!”
I wonder if they would publish that?

I heard this from a mate who has connections at Geelong a few weeks ago, but thought it was a load of crap. But given the way that Geelong are going and how desperate they’re, nothing would surprise me.

Cuppla Flags, cuppla Brownlows, cuppla clubs, cuppla years feted as the best player in the comp, shitload of shekels in the sky rocket. Now the little nude nut wants to resurrect his career mid season n lead the Moggies to the promised land of premiership glory. Phhhhht. It aint Easter Gazza, just *smile* off n stay retired, you're getting embarrassing. No resurrection ecstasy for you.

They shouldn't take him in the mid season draft. They should wait a couple of years so he matures and is of a more appropriate age.

Have they got 2 spots? Could take Gazza and Kade Simpson, lower the average age of the group.

I'm sure Hocking is re-looking at those rules now to see how the new interpretation can be worded.

Why Ablett's fairytale mid-season comeback can't happen

A PLAYER lodgement technicality from last year will ensure Carlton champion Kade Simpson is eligible for the 2021 Mid-Season Rookie Draft, but retired Geelong great Gary Ablett won't be.

Ablett has raised the prospect of a mid-season return with Geelong but the rules around the mid-season draft means another fairytale return will remain a fantasy.

Watch them find a loop hole.
