Must admit, I'm starting to wonder if the missing ingredient here is a bit of want.
Way off. Miles. Go back to the umpire appreciation thread. They care, just too many outs and too hard with 3 umps working against you.

I was at game. Hiding to nothing tonight. Just cannot compete with entire midfield out. However that's not the last of our problems. Experienced players skills are off. Our handball game is off. And our famed forward pressure game is not producing goals. We are not getting any release from contests. Poor set ups. We got slaughtered in the air. Dumb kicks to dumb positions and match ups. We desperately need another aerial threat at kick outs. I am SICK of not having two rucks. It's stupid. Dave and Dyl are slightly out of sorts. Not backing themselves in like at best. Vlas still rusty.
Tom Lynch is badly out of form. He is useless as are most forwards with the ball dumped on his head, so stop dumping on his head FFS.
Jason Castagna is in WOEFUL FORM. Cannot get near the pill. Dusty is kinda no man's land atm. If he is deep with poor delivery, even 10%, off, he has no chance. This happened multiple times tonight. And in the guts he has never really been a prime extractor type. There is very little flash in the side without Shai and Shane. It was all very very workmanlike.
Yeah look. Mmm. Yeah we can still win it. But make no mistake we are in a very awkward position. We will play finals of course. But we need to get our *smile* together in a major way.

Naish and Ross not up to it.
Ralph Smith needs more time developing.
Houli Astbury looked like they're on there last legs
Poor selections coming into the game.
Baker's kicking is a huge issue.
And the umpires did what i expected them to do.
They got them out to 5 goal lead before they went back to umpiring normally.
Sorry, but Bakes kicking last week was the difference, swings n roundabouts.

Posted on BigFooty, lead-up to the Pickett incident. Bailey carried on all night as though he was Leigh Matthews.

One of my worst days at the footy ever. In 50 years of going. I've been through years of flogging, been to Windy Hill, Western Oval, KP, Vic Park. You can stick the Gabba up your arse. I could not GET OUT OF THE *smile* GROUND AFTER THE SIREN WENT!. 10 wide, no movement, took me 40 minutes to get out of the ground. Got reamed by the umps in the first half, to the point where it actually interfered with my ability to enjoy the game. And Brisbane supporters, seriously, they are the biggest bunch of *smile* obnoxious no nothings there is. Amazing. I reckon I had 15 people try to pick a fight or hassle me leaving the ground and walking up Stanley St. The hate is strong in these clowns. Mathieson is my new most hated player, but I feel dirty saying it because he is a bum, but what an arrogant cheating prick.

Thanks for that I feel better now.

Seriousy, we could not get out of that *smile* *smile* hole. There was a disabled woman in a wheelchair, she had her family with her, they couldn't get her out, they couldn't move. I stopped and had a word to security, I was reasonable, I said look fellas, this is a disgrace, we can't move, open the exits, I know you only work here, but have a word to your manager, this is a safety issue. This Brisbane fan comes up and screams in my face 'you're s sore loser, you can only win at the MCG' I said WE WON THE *smile* FLAG HERE LAST YEAR YOU *smile* CLOWN. His girlfriend dragged him away thank god. stuff me. shitshow.

Hmm, not a great performance.

Clearly issues with missing players. We were smashed in contested possessions which really is non negotiable. I didn't think we were that bad in the air, Balta took some good marks and Broad seemed to be everywhere, but lacks height. On the ground we were soundly beaten. Brisbane players running through congestion and gathering the ball, we couldn't grab the ground ball and we couldn't stick tackles.

Much talk about lots of our players.

I saw a few signs Vlastuin is getting better, definitely still rusty but glimpses of what he normally delivers.

Rioli and Castagna just having little impact. I think it is a combination of bad form and that their roles are not fitting in to the way the game is being played at the moment. Something needs to change. Blocking space means they are not at the fall of the ball to crumb goals, and blocking space is not working. A change is needed.

I have to say Ross is not performing at AFL level. I don't know if some development will fix this but at the moment not at the level.

Grimes seems a bit off along with Astbury.

Thought Lynch made a bit more space at times in the game, some better signs. But the goal kicking yips are bad, it has to be a confidence thing. Reiwoldt started well but held after the first quarter.

Delivery into the forward line is still not up to scratch.

Dustin seemed less interested than he was last October, tried to turn things at times but didn't come off tonight.

Baker made a few mistakes but he's still a gun.

Houli was quite fumbly, but the whole team were really.

Clearly some issues with our disposals too. Many chains of possession didn't come off as the delivery was no good. Passes were intercepted, handballs to players' feet, needs to get better.

I'll agree with TBR that we need to have more than 1 gear. We never try and slow the game down. Our players are constantly running and seem to tire more than the opposition because they are running too much. When the other side have a run on we need to be passing it around a bit, slow the tempo. We did this a bit against Port and started doing some short kicks sideways and it worked. Need more variety in how we play.

Umpiring: woeful. What other conclusion can you draw? So many head high tackles on Richmond players missed. So many soft high tackles on Brisbane players paid. Simply appalling. At least 2 instances when Richmond players were called to play on when they were walking back after marking the ball, completely different treatment to Brisbane players. Holding the ball and incorrect disposal was simply all over the place, you couldn't tell what they were going to do next. If they could treat both teams the same it would be a relief, and a novelty.
