Have no doubt he'll be a ruckman in 4 to 5 years.

in meantime the challenge will be playing him and Tom in the same team.

Nank will ruck 80% of the game so leaves him as a forward with Tom.

They are very similar and don't give much when ball hits the ground. We never concede on that front.

I actually expect he'll play more VFL footy before the years out.

CCJ is invaluable right now as a forward with Tom out but when Tom is back play CCJ as 2nd ruck and resting forward with Nanks resting defence. Playing Chol in the ruck is of necessity and when Tom comes back Chol goes out for CCJ as 2nd ruck as we will get a more reliable player, less moments of brilliance but more reliable. After all CCJ is big enough and ugly enough to hold his own in rucking

If CCJ leaves because he goes out of the side for Lynch, the coaches have been derelict in their duty. Their job is to get the best out of the players so that we win games. It's on the coaches to come up with a structure to suit our players just like in 2017 when we were in the opposite situation and had very few key forwards.

Until he plays a bad game.
Then everyone will revert back to potting him
he played 3 decent games, against Murray(?), James Stewart :)rotfl2) and Edwards (?). he still has a bit to prove if he wants to play in our premiership team this year.

8 goals in 3 games. Taken some nice contested marks as well.

Bit to like there.

Madness to let him go given Jack potentially only next year before he hangs up the boots & then we would have to put 2 or 3 years into any potential draftee.

It will be interesting to see what happens once Lynch is back and taking the best defender. I would assume CCJ would keep with the same type of opponent, and Jack would get the 3rd tall who would probably be undersized. Think of Sunday, Barass would have taken Lynch, Edwards / McGovern would have taken CCJ and Jack would have got Rotham. In creates some really good matchups for us if we can kick to their advantage and get some separation.

When he kicked his first on Sunday, commentators said 10 kicks for 7 goals. Jacob Townsend like.

The issue is CJ is a lot like Lynch - not quick, not agile. You'd have to surround them with our quickest small forwards.

Lynch was once the premier tall forward in the competition. Strong, fast and with great running power.
Are you suggesting that Lynch is a thing of the past?
I’m not writing him off. I’ve seen him terrorise entire defences in yellow and black.
CCJ is a ruckman/forward. Very different players

I'm certainly not writing Lynch off.

They're not 'very different', though.

CJ is a forward/ruck (he's playing 3rd ruck behind Chol and Pickett). Lynch would be too but for the PCL. Very similar players.

Balme actually clarified that if Lynch was playing, CCJ would be playing more rucktime but they need him forward atm.
Lynch much more dynamic ( when fit )
I’d suggest CCJ more like Nankervis but better overhead.

At Richmond Lynchy has been asked to play the deep tall target role and if he can’t mark, bring the ball to ground.
It was different to his Suns role where he led up into space (pre PCL).
Now CCJ has come in and performed well at the level, with a particularly good game against WCE where he was not only a dangerous deep tall target, but also took quality contested marks up the ground. He must be persevered with, and can be accommodated.
CCJ deep tall, Lynch 2nd deep tall on the lead, and Jack getting busy where he thinks he should.
St Kilda is the perfect game to trial the three talls if Tom is fit n ready.
Other top 4 teams have improved since last year; we haven’t as yet. Three talls with CCJ could be our point of difference and improvement in 2021.
After a long and excellent apprenticeship, CCJ has come in ready to impact, and is.
I think we need to roll the dice on the 3 tall forwards.

I think that would be a good thing, have the small forwards concentrating more on crumbing than on defending space. The game has changed slightly and protecting space is not the advantage it has been for a few years. This is an adaption we can make and we can make it with a big advantage in 2 big key forwards, hopefully with Lynch more mobile than he has been, and a third key forward with more smarts than just about any other player and a licence to roam and create havoc.

What's not to like about that?
