Is thats serious? What was the IOC's reasoning publicly for this?Interesting some of the athletes being lauded by the social media crowd for their "brave" political activism over some of their little symbolic acts when entering playing arenas. Although, I'm not sure how "brave" they really are. Haven't seen anyone come out to a medal ceremony or enter an arena donning a Taiwan flag face mask, in protest of the IOC denying Taiwan their identity (in an act of spineless complicity with the CCP's political ambitions). "We're brave, but not quite THAT brave" they might say. Can only imagine the sanctioning an athlete might receive from the IOC in a complete overreaction to appease Chinese sensitivities on the topic.
Get on to the Handball - they are crazy!my picks so far from limited viewing - Table Tennis, Fencing, Taekwondo

Thanks for that. I had no idea about any of that. What a joke!If these athletes win at the Olympics, their flag won't be raised and their anthem won't be played. Here's why
The last time Tokyo held the Olympics, Taiwan was able to compete under its own name and flag. But that's no longer the case. Here's why.www.abc.net.au
This article gives a reasonable summary of the history around this issue.
Yep it’s brutal. She pants the field in the semi and was quickest down again Excluding penalties.Jess Fox bronze in the Canoe Slalom. 2 sec penalty right at the end costs her the Gold. Small margin for error!
No surprise. The IOC are just as gutless as the rest of the world and international organisations when it comes to “offending” the CCPIs thats serious? What was the IOC's reasoning publicly for this?
The other ironic point with this. Look up the Taiwan (or ROC) national anthem. A beautiful hymn, sung in Mandarin, but when translated to English is overtly singing about peace and shared humanity being the nation’s raison d’être. I would have thought it a fitting reinforcement of the Olympic movement’s values. Probably the only national anthem of this kind. But I believe they aren’t permitted the national anthem (as well as their flag or identity). Thanks for that. I had no idea about any of that. What a joke!
Opals way off the pace.Opals flopping v Belgium. Girls football making hard work of it v USA.
Matildas 0:0 with the mighty USA at half-time, pretty even but you'd say the Matildas just shaded it. Apparently a draw would see both sides through so let's see if they contrive a result. So far both sides going for the win.
You mean Taiwan being forced to compete as Chinese Taipei (ROC is actually one of Taiwan’s preferred names). Not sure how the forcing Taiwan to to compete as Rep of China is worse than England forcing Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and probably the Channel Islands to compete as "Great Britain" so that the English have a better chance of seeing themselves in the top 10 countries
Criminal really.
Very very poor showing. I know Belgium are ranked 6th but the Opals were poor.Opals way off the pace.
I believe ROC is Russian Olympic CommitteeYou mean Taiwan being forced to compete as Chinese Taipei (ROC is actually one of Taiwan’s preferred names).
But the whole Great Britain thing is not remotely similar to CCP governed mainland China vs Taiwan.
One might argue that Northern Ireland may have some very loose parallels. But the rest of the Great Britain example is very, very different.
