changes for round 21

This is exciting.

The future gets their chance to show us what they got.

I wouldn’t normally tolerate a loss to Norf, but with the ins, and also the outs, this is going to be worth watching.

Fair to say this is the most I’ve looked forward to a game all year.

Yep - great move and all makes sense.

Mist be one of the youngest and most inexperienced sides we have put on the park for awhile.

And don’t underestimate the value of Vlas back in - we look so much better with him in the side

Hope it provides a spark.

Cumberland has been in better from what I've seen in the ressies but are different players. Ralphsmith has speed and is a lead-up to the ball type player., something our small forwards have lacked doing in the fwd 50 this year. Just happy to see change and with baker, bolton, parker, MRJ and Ralphsmith who all have pace but will also bring immense pressure to cause turnovers, hoping to see similar to what we first saw in 2017.

Chol out thank god..hopefully that's it
All those who got the sack now have a 4 sale sign attached. Sorry that included Marbiol but have to agree with those who differ. All that promise but so many chances..
George a triple premiership player has had a great career, with hopefully more to come. He too has been given every chance.
Hope some one picks him up but that is no certainty.

I see big problems with our core midfield. Too old too slow. Take away 30yo+ in Edwards, Cotchin, Dusty, Lambert what do we have left? Even Prestia is nearly 29. Need new brigade to step in and step it up but I'm not sure what we have currently is up to AFL level.
Don't think age is a factor, but we definitely lack energy in the middle of the park with our run and contested footy.

we've been beaten way too easily in there and an average freo midfield made us look slow and lethargic.

Sure injuries have had an impact but how much has the loss of Innis in the strength and conditioning department impacted us?

I think Innis has been the single most important piece in our current decline. Just have to look at the energy the Swans are playing with this year to realise. They need to find another gun in that position for next year or else we could be in for some more pain with an ageing list.
Remember Port a couple of years ago picked up someone similar for their fitness dept and their running capacity that year was crazy. Almost won them the flag. He left a year or 2 later and they have never been the same. Such an important part of a clubs setup with the speed of the game and lack of rotations

Causing turnovers has been our game since our success in 2017. It was the principal strategy employed from that time and changed the game assisted as it was by the then man on the marks ability to move to immediately cut off players who attempted to kick short to a target at an angle.
The strategy was to try and ensure man on man contests for every opponent ahead of the kicker when we were defending, which when we were on literally caused our opponents to always kick from a stoppage to a contested ball situation.
Our speed and aggression used systematically, usually won out and we became pretty much unbeatable.

Enter Steve Hocking, the new Geelong CEO, and his late introduction at the beginning of this season, of a new and untried rule preventing the lateral movement of the man on the mark and making short passing to a team mate any where, an easy means of defeating the strategy that had been successfully adopted by Dimma.

The result has been that Hocking's plan has succeeded wildly, with part of the problem being that Dimma himself has failed to accept that he too has needed to react to this new rule and introduce some changes, including changes in personnel, with a greater reliance being placed on player's who can kick, at the top of that list.
Not just because of injury then, this season is now a right off.

The future of the rule however remains uncertain and ultimately is in Gills hands. He has repeatedly shown himself to be no friend of Richmond.
And so the biggest and most significant fight going on in the AFL at the present time has nothing to do with Alistair Clarkson or Tex Walker.

It has to do with who controls the AFL. The President, Goyder, is quite obviously hiding in Perth and a president in name only who has given up and literally handed all authority to Gill. (Never before have we needed stronger leadership and never before have we had such a pathetic president). Time for Peggy to take over?
Meanwhile Gill the man, wants to ensure his own legacy by not having his mistakes revisited, and to ensure this, by leaving his crown to the present head of football, AFL lawyer Andrew Dillon. He also wants Brad Scott to succeed Dillon into the role of Chief of football !!

If either of those events occur you can forget ever again, 'hoping to see similar to what we first saw in 2017'.

Yes slow and lethargic because we're too slow and old. Cotch and Edwards great players in their prime but too injury prone and no way they're keeping up with the gun midfields. Both played 84% game time, way too much. I saw Lambert in the centre bounces, have hardly seen that all year. Not sure which of the current crop of youngsters are going to step in and genuinely help.

To create energy you need the cattle and we don't have the cattle to consistently produce the required energy.

Despite our changes I'm not sure why we go in as favourites even against lowly Norf. Our form is pretty stinky & they're a team on the rise. I'm certainly not confident of a win.

Kangas will throw everything at us this week they will have been aiming up for this one for the past few weeks.

They look at us as a massive scalp (even though it has been clearly apparant for some time that we are not).

I wont be surprised if they roll us.

The ins will help the Tigers though in regard to energy and exuberance.

Two commodities sadly lacking pretty much all year aside form the second halves against the Dogs and Drugs, and a slight spike against the Bears.

All that said the Tigers have enough quality on the Park and should ....SHOULD win this one, and if they dont its roll up the shutters for anyone with ailments requiring surgery at seasons end.

Some of the in's have nothing to lose and everything to gain and gain I hope they will. Still disappointed that Miller cannot get a game despite often being an emergency though.
Above all I want to see our team trying and having fun again. Hopefully Saturday will give me that

Yeah would like to see Miller and Cumberland get a game before the year ends.

If we are done another game for RCD, Martyn, and Dow wouldnt hurt either might help to make some calls re list management.

Yep North have been pretty good since round 13. 3 wins 1 draw 4 losses, no big losses. Over a season they'd be vying for top 8. Tigers 1 win in last 7. Over a season we'd be on the bottom of the ladder. A loss won't surprise me but frankly better for the longer term as long as we keep blooding youngsters.

Struggling like the two premiership sides he was in. :D
George is a 3 x premiership player. Probably close to the worst performed player this year. Perhaps i should of said moving forward if Pickett or George for that matter are in our best 22 we are struggling
