Thought Jack was good , though when the opposition midfield is getting a stack of it and not a defensive bone in there body it can be a bit misleading, in saying that Jack did a lot right , if it’s not ours he’ll definitely be on an AFL list next season.

WTF are you talking about? Should I have added the sarcasm emoji?
So you’re arguing they are teaching Ross a new skill cos he’s already a gun at inside mid?
Stack started as a HBF, a star from his first game there.
Rioli moving there is an inspired move. But, HBF is the easiest position on the ground to look good. If Ross was any good at inside mid he’d be starting in the centre square every game.
Yes they are teaching him a new role/skill. Only room for one inside mid each game. Clearly stated by Dimma at a briefing he gave a coterie. They want him to become more like Prestia which is a transition mid. And today he showed he's learnt some of that. He also needed to learn how and when to hold his width.

His best game in years. If he’s going to play it’s as an inside midfielder and nothing else. No more wing or HBF.
They (the coaches) want/need him to be more. Today when needed he held his width (learnt) and he got to multiple contests (transition).

The coaches should put him in the best spot to succeed. And at AFL level that’s not at HBF or the wing.

That was to teach him a role and how to keep width and run certain defensive patterns. Very little VFL to do that with. I just see investment in a kid they want to keep.

Best game he has played for a while. Helps when he is played in his most suited position.

Finally back in the position he belongs in. Cops a lot of hate on here.

I thought we learned that lesson in 2017 - play to our players' strengths.

DS
Yep but they certainly haven’t applied that principle to Ross this year. How many times was he medi sub? At least 5 I reckon. And then when he was given a game he was played on a wing or HBF. He showed in his first year he was an inside mid. Club has handled him poorly IMHO.

Played well today albeit in a glorified practice match. Hopefully he is given a chance to show his wares next year. If he doesn’t make it so be it.

24 touches 4 clearances 8 turnovers and one score involvement, it’s not exactly the new chimp? He had a good game for Jack but his possessions rarely hurt. No sure he is starting 22 material. Still young but I think a couple of other young guys have more scope.
