Absolutely. How are clubs supposed to build a list profile when they don't know what style of footy will be played based on the rules of the game.

Given Scott has the sanctimonious one, Gerard Whateley pushing his wants on SEN and Fox Footy (and this is where the AFL gets its 'voice of the customer' from) then it's fair to say that the stand rule will survive as long as Scott wants it to.

Add to this the fact that his brother is odds on to get Hockins old gig at the AFL then I'm tipping the rules will be whatever Geelong want them to be.

I have been against Benny being AFL CEO (keep him for our sole benefit) but maybe he needs to go for the sake of RFC and the game itself - and change the mindset at HQ.
