The only minuscule pang of guilt comes from the fact acatman1 is a decent poster on PRE.
Yes he is, I agree. (cheers acatman1).

My disdain towards Geelong has nothing really to do with their fans or the Geelong Football Club.

Nor does it have anything to do with the way they would torture us then fold us up and mail us home nearly every week we played them after 1986.

Its solely to do with Scott the ingracious wanker, and his pisssing and moaning, the AFL media sycophantry, and Duckwood, Shovekins, Rubdown, Clangerfield, Miers and Cameron.

I'm glad I heard Mince just say they're not close to Richmond as team of the year......or something like that.

After the Cats' disastrous 2021 finals campaign I was a bit worried about them Then I heard that Steve Hocking was going to take the reins and now I can sleep easy knowing that the are doomed.

Oh. I know what Steve will do. He'll introduce VAR and flashing signs that never cut anybody.

Hang on. Has Steve taken on the role only on condition that he get to write the theme song? Is Steve the Dennis Waterman of football managers?

I can't wait to hear Steve Hocking's new club song. He's such an innovator.

The HUN reporting that Rohan has signed again for ‘22! Jenkins retired ( and they delisted Jarvis and Taheny. )

So of their 30+ brigade I think it’s only Henderson that hasn’t re-signed for ‘22.

Delisting a 21 year old and a 20 year old - bad recruiting or no opportunities? I have no idea. But the fact they look like losing a few young players and have a crappy draft hand, while keeping the old players does not bode well.

To some extent they have no choice. Yes, the older players are reaching the end of their careers, but how do you replace them without some decent draft picks? Damned difficult. I also don't think they have players they could trade for draft picks, they're simply too old and no-one would trade, of their younger players none stand out to me and a lot are untried.

In their position they really have to go for it for one more year and then assess their options. They did make a PF but did they ever look like they could really contend for the flag? Well beaten by both Melbourne and Port suggests they are just a rung lower and not quite contenders. They were a lot closer last year and it is very hard to see them getting more competitive, quite the opposite.

More chance winning powerball 3 weeks in a row.
Both PORT and Geelong will be under soooo much pressure next year, Every win will be bypassed but every loss the media will go for the kill.
I can't see Geelong home ground or not doing sweet FA next year.
They will be the Geelong 'Selleys' Cats in 2022. Just filling the Spots.
Port are just are woeful front runner inspired football club.
For a club that always chooses to use there past as motivation has expired now.

you may laugh but they probably have to
with Cameron , Hawkins up front and Stewart and Henry down back , internally their argument would be we cant waste the opportunity
I don't know their VFL level players to know if any are a reasonable prospects for next year

we have discussed , at length , our dilemia of having the likes of Cotch , Jack , Edwards etc all going in the space of 1 or 2 seasons
and Geelongs numbers are double ours and how they try and get out of it will amuse us for years :)

just as a hyperthetical
for the next 5 years picks 1 & 2 , I'd use 1 in the draft and use 1 for trade
and the traded in player would have to be 21-25 yrs
and in some years look to trade your 1st and 2nd round picks for a better 1st round pick

hit the rookie draft and look at mature age rookies again 21-25 yrs

hopefully in that time you remain in the top8
and gradually return your list age profile to something more normal
and if you get lucky with the rookies and draft you might assemble enough talent that you go top 4

anyhow not our problem

Reckon we can pencil in Chris Scott’s presser for end of season 2022. The age of their list to me suggests that the soft tissue injuries are looming. The Hammy’s, the calves etc.

‘I don’t want to use this as an excuse but we didn’t have the best run with injury this season. All clubs have injuries as we know, but Jeremy only being able to play half the season (hammy because of his chicken legs), Joel getting a calf that took a long time to overcome and we probably brought him back too early. Paddy was out for 14 matches which you can’t factor in as he is such a great match winning player…it’s just one of those things. I don’t want people to think that we are using this as an excuse…..but what do you do”

If the Olds are mid table in June then he might not make it to an end of season 22 presser.
