2021 Draft Thread

The WAFL Colts is a pretty average standard. Compared to the NAB League there isn’t really a comparison. If you want evidence of it, go watch the WAFL Colts semi final from the weekend between East Perth and East Fremantle. The Royals had Amiss playing and the Sharks had 8 WA reps.

The standard was terrible.

I’ve watched truckloads of Colts games and I reckon be a bit wary of both the SANFL and WAFL players, at least where the deeper candidates are concerned. Victoria still has the vast majority of the best players in this Draft.
Got a link to that game?

Not the right place for this, but another one it sounds like who wants to "let it rip". Are you going to volunteer in a hospital?
Mate I'm ex army whom at 18 was approved for sas training, lost a finger and carried in without fuss, now don't start something that's doesn't need starting

If he has another year of no games he will be gettable for a bag of chips
As you know, another CGS boy.
Great intercept marker. Really thought he’d make an impact.
Cant remember how he tested?
Then again it took Alex Rance a couple of years.

Unfortunately not Scoopie Doo. You’ve gotta put on a hazmat suit and subscribe to the West.
I take your point about colts but we’ve had Naughton, Oscar Allen, Sam Taylor, Logan McDonald, Mitch Georgiades, Luke Jackson and Denver Two dads as key postion players in the last four drafts. Fair pipeline.

Well with some 240 players over 4 Drafts you’d expect a few hits here and there !!! ??

Lol, I took top 30 quality. There has been bugger all misses. That’s the point.
You’ve taken 7 WA players across 4 Drafts and tried to analogise that this years WA crop of key position players will therefore produce great results. The true point is that in all likelihood, only one or two will be of any reasonable success. And looking at the quality of them this year - which isn’t that great or deep - that’ll be about right.

But are you willing to volunteer in a hospital, or, if you want to let it rip, are you willing to be one of the dead?

Jye Amiss. Just a note on him and maybe what some aren’t aware of: he’s had a history of injuries as a junior. Hamstring and back injuries. I understand they were growth related and he’s over them now, but he’s missed a lot of footy never the less as a junior.

There was a worry on the weekend he may have done something again. He went off but came back on. Seemed ok.

If he plays on the weekend in the trial game, that’ll be a good sign.

The best players are always Victorians.
South Australians are generally soft & outside
And WA are tough but unskilled.

This young bloke sounds ok, might be worth a second round pick?

#27 Mitch Knevitt
Geelong Falcons/Vic Country | Inside Midfielder
8/01/2003 | 193cm | 81kg

August Ranking: NR

Snapshot: A big-bodied midfielder with great size and reach, Knevitt dominates at the coalface and impacts around the ground with his strong overhead marking, a feature also sighted up forward.

One who was marked by his teammates as one to watch during preseason, Knevitt has taken full advantage of finally getting the opportunity to impress with some outstanding form in 2021. The 193cm midfielder provides range and size which proves difficult to combat at the coalface, as he digs in to win contested ball and stands up in tackles while dishing it out. The Geelong Falcons product is also developing his outside game and is athletically sound, getting to more contests around the ground and making an impact with his contested marking. He fits the modern day midfielder-forward prototype given his built and ability, with the performances to match his potential now coming to the fore.

Last month:

Knevitt had been building ominous form before the latest Victorian hiatus, with his sole outing in August an absolute blinder. The big-bodied midfielder dominated with 36 disposals, 10 marks, eight inside 50s and a goal against the Bendigo Pioneers, steering Geelong to victory in his most complete performance yet. He had also put in a massive shift in late-July and was impressive at representative level, helping him climb into top 30 range.
