2021 Draft Thread

They don't have a choice. Either they trade into this year, or the deficit they take forward from Daicos comes off their 1st next year. We should look to trade 1 of our 2nds for their 2nd next year.

If we get 38 for Tarrant and 37 for Chol. I'd also be comfy using 1 to get Lipinski to the Pies. The Dogs get 38 or 37, Pies get Lipinski and we get the Pies 3rd next year.

Then completely deathride the heck out of the Pies
Sorry champ can you explain what happens if Collingwood do fall short on points, what happens?

I cant believe in a professional organisation you can go into 'deficit'.
either you have the points or you don't.
Has the AFL got Layby?

It seems the mistakes by Buckley and Ned Guy will have them treading water for a very long time.
it's brilliant.

Was just thinking. Has there ever been a greater Draft hand than Hawthorn in 2004 with 2,5,7,21,26 and us with 1, 4, 12, 16 and 20 ?
Besides Deledio we burnt that draft.
Those were the years clubs would throw over picks for players very easily.
After The *smile* decisions by Frawley after 2001 forced us to go to the draft
We couldn't continue with the Bisscombe's, Hudson's, Blumfield's, etc

This is the year our recruiters will have to earn their money

We have 4 integral plyers that are 30+ that will be finishing up within 1-2 years
Cotchin , Jack , Edwards , Tarrant , and another 3 players 1-2 years after

We have some nice picks and also some late picks with the vic kids not getting much football there would be some gems late
having 5-6 picks inside 40 is a massive opportunity to stock up and replenish the list.
Spot on. Too risky to just go all in in a Fiora type.
5 picks in the first 40 would be safer way to go.
2 picks under 20
2 picks under 30.
*smile* trading up.

Pity was that only one mob knew how to play poker. The other mob was us.

I will be Sending a emall to club
No way to losing draft picks to upgrade 4 positions.
Stupid, short sighted and our record with first rounders is abysmal.
More picks the better

It was Graig Cameron who went onto radio the night before the draft and spilled the beans who we were keen on.
He made it very clear that Deledio was our number 1 target but in the process allowing Hawthorn to switch plans and take Roughhead at 2.
The drafting of Meyer Tambling Pattinson and Polo would make us the laughing stock of the AFL.
A president of a football club would ask the supporters 'what players we needed".
Clinton Casey would ask members what players do we need?
We were as bad in the 2000's as the early 1990's in list building and developing. Totally useless

AFL's got better than lay by, it's that new fangled buy now pay later scheme. Pay a deposit, get the player now n finish paying for him some time next year. If they don't have enough points to pay for the player this year, the rest of the points come off the value of their first pick in next years draft n their pick gets shuffled back in the draft order.
If Colonwood came up 600 points short of the points value for Daicos this year it gets taken off their draft value next year. Colonwood 2022 draft pick 10 value = 1395 points less the 600 points deficit from 2021 draft would see them with a value of 795 points = pick 24 instead. Pretty sure that's how it works.

As far as I'm concerned everyone should simply let Colonwood drown in their own shyte bucket this year n next by not doing any deals with them. Four crappy picks in this years draft could see them come up 900 points short for Daicos, that'd see them enter next years draft at around pick 36. That would seriously *smile* up their talent dip for next year as well.
Club in list rebuild and all they get out of two drafts is Daicos n a handful of dodgy leftovers.

Thats unreal but like last year some stupid club like Footscary or North will bail them out.
But its a ridiculous rule. If you don't have points, it should be too bad.
The AFL allows these amateur mistakes by clubs to be resolved.
If they are running in this 'deceit' how can they trade in players?
Lipinksi files and Krueger National park?

Was a couple of champs in that draft and then pretty much SFA , has to be close to worst draft ever, basically after Lewis at 7 , I think the only good /handy players after that we’re Le cras , Morton , Polo and Mcguane

We are all assuming we are trying to get pick 3 for one of the high end midfielders or could we simply be doing this to get Gibcus?

For me I would be choosing Gibcus.

I haven't looked much at the kids yet.

is it fair to say Ward is a blue chip solid citizen (in the jack graham way) ?

would be good to go for this type with our first I reckon.

we have ample X-factor rolling through in dusty, $hai, stackman, possibly RCD, MRJ, Dow, Bakes, Hugo

a bloke whose gonna win it 15 times a week, week in - week out is definitely a need.

That reel doesn't really excite me Aces. He's 3 inches taller than his opponent in most contests, and he often ends up on the ground.

just a comment on the reel, rather than the footballer.

I've got 1, 4, 12, 16 and 20 as part of my lotto numbers, they've got to be good for something one day.

We were on a hiding to nothing with Clinton Casey and Greg Miller running the show(n)

The next year Miller having never seeing Oakley-Nicholls play, selected him off a video:mad:
