2021 Draft Thread

Still thinking this draft is pretty good. Not elite, not terrible.

Good draft to have so many picks inside 30.

This the 2019 under 16 All Australian side, take some stock from it.

And everyone thinking this draft has been COVID impacted the next two drafts won’t have under 16 form to fall back on. Next years draft will be based on limited 2019 & 2020 TAC form plus next years form when things hopefully get back to normal. I wouldn’t want this draft hand in next years draft. Much less exposed form to judge on.
I actually really like this draft and would be content to take our picks as they are just trading out later picks to acquire the doggies #17 and do what we can to get #20 from the Cj trade even if it means giving up #40
7 -15 -17 - 20- 26- 28 we may even be able to trade 28 to the Pies for 2022 2nd rounder

7 - Erasmus / Ward / Nwm
15 - Goater / JVR / Roberts / Sonsie /Draper or any slider from top 10
17 - Any slider from above
20 - Williams / Bazzo / Long

with 26 & 28 depending on which players we get can go needs

Really good draft with alot of late gems with massive upside , This is the type of draft you could get a kid at 28 that could be better than a top 10 pick

Rendell quite effusive and SOS reckons we've done a great job to be in this position.
(Hopefully we get it right!)

Parrot was begging both Silivagni and Rendell to bag us and say we are finished and we are no chance.
Silivagni struggled to say we are still good but Rendell was slapping himself in excitement

Spot on
That's why are would prefer us keeping our 7 16 26 28 and then playing around with the others for next year.
36,38 compo Chol
For Stkilda's 2nd rounder next year or Collingwoods 2nd rounder most likely under 25 next year.
Agree Turk there will be beauties late this year

If pick 2's up for grabs we're easily best-positioned to get it. I like Ward a lot, but I like Callaghan even more. 189cm, very fast, evasive, composed, great left foot, strong overhead. Could start on a flank or wing, ends up in the middle.

Love the thought of a quick high skilled Lefty , I wonder if there’s any chance of getting CJ to go to GWS , that would help get pick 2

He's essentially "ready to go" right?

Maybe we'd be looking at wings of Callaghan and Kmac on the other side with Hugo coming through.

yeah he could be the second best in the draft.

Is Callaghan really that good ? From the 5 or 6 full games I’ve watched of him this year he’s still a very outside player to date. Coaches have asked him to work on his kicking. Bit of a rush on him this year.

Dunno if he’s a pick 2 ? Guess we’ll see.

Overrated ?

Anyway, good to see the Trudge from the Northern Knights getting a bit of exposure.
What’s the knock on the Trudge drodfer….seems to get a lot of the ball and is tough as.

Kicking ? I like him as a late pick.

Yes, pretty much BB. He was told by his coaches at the start of the year he needed to improve his outside ball winning, his kicking there after, and tidy up on the professional side of things. He’s done all of that and the results speak for themselves.

He has a couple of rough edges but he’s a ball winning, non-stop, always in the game kid. Tough as. Doesn’t stop.

Has had interviews. Maybe a rookie.

Thanks for posting, that was actually really good! I've never been a big Rendell fan, but actually hearing an independent be so bullish about our draft / list position was great to hear.

If the trade is done Andrew will be there at #7

Cant see any team other than GWS taking him top 10 imo
Maybe. But you’d want absolute surety. I don’t think 7 provides that. You don’t make deals like that until you’ve got 100% certainty.

One thing, if that deal happens, or even anything for 3 or 4, then you’ll know that all the clubs now know which players each club is taking in the top 10.

Always occurs at some point prior to Draft night and any of those deals will then confirm the status or order of players to which club. You’ll get all of the media Draft pundits eg Staedtler Twomey bedding down their Draft orders from that point on.

Dogs pick is crucial

Pick 17 has to be traded ( 1025 ) we can give them 38 (CCJ ) 40+44 (1256 )

Then we are left with 7, 15,17, 26,28 + Chol compo

Give GWS 7+17 + chol45 ( 3016 ) for 2 ( 2517 )

end up with 2,15,26,28

Maybe end up with

Callaghan, JVR, Williams, Knevitt

2 mids, 1 KF, 1 KD utility All very doable and very realistic

Bang !
Its actually better than that

Pick #17 will become pick #18 once Daicos has been bid and taken
The Pies will also use up their 36, 39, 41, 45 picks which will bring foward our later picks #40 & #44 also what ever picks we get for Chol (39) Cj (38)

The doggies 1sy pick will be worth 985 points and our picks will be 38 (40) 42 (44) will equal 860 points so if we add the chol compo total will be 1306
the doggies wont say no to that. Pick #7 bid would be covered
