The knock on Ronald (apparently), and why he’s not up in headlights, is that he has no contested game. I have no idea if that’s true or not. I watched a few West Adelaide reserves games a few months ago but because I was looking at some other players, can’t say I took much notice of Fejo. I’d have to go back to them and other West Adelaide games that I’ve got access to in order to get the broader picture.

thanks Red.

his tackle stats are low.

but a bloke with his skill set would find it difficult to become engaged in a contest,

in the manner Peter Moody never ran Black Caviar in a Warrnambool steeplechase.

Yeah. Although in some reserves games he knocks up 3,4, 5 tackles so it’s not outside of his game. I think it has more to do with his ability to win his own ball. Not sure. As I say you’d have to go back to full games to see if that was the case or not. I don’t have contested possession rates.

And yeah, he has some talent. Not sure if it’s Black Caviar level though. Everyone’s a champion on a highlights package.

His crazy disp % #'s scream uncontested game. either that or he's a bonafide gun at getting out of a contest into space, in which case he'd be the clear #1 pick

I am still keen to hold out picks unless we get an offer which favours us, tempting as it is to trade up but it'll be a high price for 1 player but giving up 1 or 2 others. if it's as even as ppl are saying after the top 5ish picks then it's probably not worth doing it.

I agree. An old saying of my grand ma's..."don't put all your eggs in one basket". We've had early selections in the past that did not work out so let's have a handful of good ones to work with instead of putting too much expectation on one or two players, especially since they haven't played a lot of footy recently. Choosing these young players is a very inexact science.

not comparing the two, but Ronny Fifo makes Finn Callahan in traffic look like a headless chook.

well, I suppose I am comparing the two, even though they are largely incomparable.

two additional points for Clarkes consideration.

1. He is duel sided. prefers his right, but his left doesnt blot the 96%.

2. EzJ, whose powers of concentration are remarkable on football research found an agility time for RFJ = 6th nationally. EzJ has the ability to spot footballers and is uncompromising. He rarely uses hyperbole or is definitive , but hes pretty hyperbolic and definitive on RFJ. This is always a good sign. EZJ misses the odd boom (Daisy Thomas a notable one) but rarely, if ever, backs a bust.

We don't need to trade anything to anyone unless its clear overs.
Yeah, I'd rather we keep the 5 picks.

If we do keep the 5 picks, two inside mids, two talls who have shown an ability to play forward or back, and a pacy, skilful, utility player is what is on my wish list.

10 young stars are polarising AFL club recruiters. These are their wide draft ranges

This is what is so interesting about this draft

Our picks in the 20s could yield better players than Pick 7, and 15.

Its a very open draft, and we are nicely positioned to take advantage of any opportunities.

I reckon one of those 20s picks this year might even be pushed into 2022 draft, if someone gives us overs for it.

Was thinking the same thing, but I hope we use our 5 picks in the top 28, there will be some gems.
The only way id give up say 7 and 15 is if we got say crows 4 and 33 or GWS pick 2 etc

Not a bad article that. But from all of them, Johnson didn’t have any real weakness’ identified, so what was he doing on the list then ?

Agree, impressive combine results, particularly his agility, shows he'd be able to weave in and out of traffic plus he went under 3-sec in the sprint.
Coupled with his good endurance, they are some very handy attributes for a tall mid.

Red would you pull the trigger on him at 7 (9) If Hobbs doesnt make it to our pick.
I don't believe the WA teams are after Goater, could be using some tactics for Vic clubs to jump at him whilst they pick up Erasmus, Johnson, Amiss

Quite possibly AT. Especially if we could get StKilda’s 9 (11). That might get us a Johnson-Rachele result which would be off the charts outstanding.
