2021 Draft Thread

if we're reaching back,

my other notable wins were; I was dead against Tambling and extremely bullish on JR.

I think I may have been glad we took Corey Ellis?
I wanted Lids and Buddy. Was mad keen on Cotch and Shai. Wanted Lynch in 2010. Would have taken Joel Houghton instead of Astbury.

We haven't really gone for inside mids

Will Martyn, Jack Ross, RCD & Dow all drafted as inside mids or at least clearance players..

A brief pre-draft profile on Dow:

For Dow, his clearance work and ability to move well on the inside is a key feature of his game

I am not sure drafting an 18 year old inside mid is going to change your immediate prospects, unless it is a top 1-2 pick. Took Dusty years to reach star level, same for Petracca, while Judd was a 1-in-10 year freak.

Better to address an inside mid need via free agent or trade.
Dusty in his second season averaged 22 disposals and 1.5 goals a game. That's a star.

What if the key back was as good as Taylor at GWS?
Then he is best available. Taylor would go close to Number 1 if he was in this draft knowing now how good he is.

Is Gibcus in that coversation? If so then at pick 9 he could be the steal of the draft.

The thought of trading up for Rachele is tantalising. The kid's got velcro hands and a rocket-powered laser guidance system in his feet.

Most importantly he’s a Murray bushranger ………hang on I’m a Sting ray man now

Yep. We are very lucky that slip up didn't cost us.

Yeah what a shame someone didn't jump in before us with that intel!

I remember in 2005 when Miller picked JON and Kinnear Beatson who had the next pick for Brisbane was laughing so hard he could hardly get the name of his pick out.

7 and 26 was the rumour. We get Rachele, they get Wanganeen and Draper. Maybe we could get something back, possibly 33.
I'd do that with 33 coming back.

Jack, Lynch, Shai and Rachelle all in the 50 is pretty dangerous.

I'd do it too and so would Blair. Williams might be there at 33. Irregardless, Rachele is Daicos/Callaghan level of Class.
