2021 Draft Thread

I think the Rachele trade is unlikely.

Gibcus, Sonsie, then trade two 20s picks to Norf for 20 and 47 and grab Butler, Williams/JVR and Fejo/Jones.
Or potentially MacDonald with one of those picks.

Where’s that genuine contested ball winning mid we desperately need though ?
I'm not sure it is that desperate. RCD, Ross and Martyn have been killing it in the VFL in incredibly difficult circumstances. See how they go next year, there are pigs in every draft.

Or get MacDonald or Paul Couch's bastard son Angus Sheldrick.

Nah. We’re last and second last for contested possessions and clearances. We get hammered. I need more security that we’re dealing or rectifying that issue long term than relying on those 3 to be the solution.

Trades like this is what I'm hoping for, trading for top 20 picks using our 2nd rounders which will get us one of Butler, Howes, Erasmus, Sinn, Goater, Van Rooyen, MacDonald & Sonsie.

If we traded 7 & 26 for Crows 4 & 33 that would be a steal, take it in a heartbeat.

That’s a long way from the reported offer we gave them back in trade week of 7 + 15 for 4

I'm so into this draft as many others clearly are, but I have a feeling I'm not going to happy! I'm not in love with Gibcus or Hobbs and I'm no sure the Sonz will last until our second pick. Many would be happy with say a Gibcus and Butler combo, I will just feel meh! Give me Johnson and the Sonz and I'll be more excited, appreciating full well that a Gibcus/Butler combo may well be better. I'm so conflicted and nothing has even happened. :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness it probably won’t be much before 9.00.

The first few picks are going to be particularly unbearable as GWS take 5 minutes to decide to bid on Darcy, then Bulldogs take 5 minutes to decide to match it, then GWS take another 5 minutes to select Callaghan … and repeat for Daicos with the next pick.

The worst is when there’s a tantalising hint that we might trade up (as happened with the Bailey Smith rumour in 2018) so you do have to pay attention from early on

In saying that how did we lead the finals in 2020 and end of the season for clearances and contested ball strange that was.

The Age has us taking Gibcus at 9, Erasmus going to Fremantle at 10, and Johnson to us at 17.
Two of those 3 would be a great start.
Would be a dream but no chance that happens imo

Johnson will be gone by pick #12 if not way earlier

Dont think we would want both Gibcus and JVR. With Balta in the bag, we would be overloaded with elite key defenders and be hoping one turns into a forward.

Think we would split it to one mid and one tall.
And then trade to hope to pick up another superstar
Especially with a supposedly loaded KPP draft next year

We were this year, when we were cooked. Last year we flogged all comers in the finals when we needed to.

Besides, if Hobbs, Ward and Johnson (not really a contested beast but classy) are gone, what do you do?
