how many rookie spots do we have?

One of the most noteworthy points of Richmonds draft haul is,

Clarkey left his crazy routine at home. he's played % drafting.

No bolters, No Queenslanders, No crazy kids with a dream.

what was billed as the most unpredictable draft ever,

I reckon turned out the total opposite.

we ticked almost all my boxes; A KPP; a Tasmanian; someone who had Trent Cotchin wallpaper in their bedroom; a rough head

two more boxes to tick in the rookie and the supplementary; a black fella, a ruckman

and its the perfect draft haul and should be entered into textbooks and taught to kids in primary school.
Sorry we have no picks for the Rookie draft except re drafting Biggy.

Or you went unders on your assessment of Alleer?
No, the difference between pick 9 & 15 this year has been an intriguing case study, it's one we'll have to revisit in 5 years because there's one player with a relatively complete skill set and one player with an elite feature that is a major weapon but the rest of his game is a work in progress. I wish Alleer well however, I hope he succeeds because it will open some more doors for players who are coming from such a long way back. The last time I can recall a similar situation was Tom Williams back in 2004, he ended up playing 85 games but didn't justify pick 6. Bit of a boom/bust this one but he's a nice player to watch & a fantastic subplot to a highly unpredictable draft. Well done on being a such a resolute player president, you've fathered some of the risky types this year and I've enjoyed the banter. Look forward to revisiting this thread in 5 years.

Sounds like we rared Johnson, trying to trade down for him at 21.
so I guess we came very close to picking him at 17
It was close for sure but in the end we went for the flanker over the mid, this is where the debate over best available gets interesting.

So how did we all go? From my draft options, I got 3 picked.

9 – Gibcus - Key defender (196cm/87kg)
17 – Sonsie – Midfielder (181cm/77kg)
28 - Taylor - Midfielder (180cm/74kg)
29 - Knevitt – Midfielder (193cm/81kg)
30 – Clarke – Small Forward (179cm/70kg)

Looking at the players we drafted and their attributes of elite speed, kicking and competitiveness I have this sneaky feeling the Hobbs talk was a smokescreen. His kicking isn’t great and he is a little slow.

We dont have any spots open unless we upgrade 2 to main list which we have to do to meet the Minimum 36 on main list

I will clarify my comment above, I dont have Cumberland in my numbers anywhere, I know there was talk we had put him back on main list but how did we do that ??, as a delisted free agent ?

You cant just put them off & on the list, there has to be a mechanism to do it
Just guessing but it appears that when they tried to shift Cumberland onto the rookie list, other clubs showed interest in him. My guess is that they decided not to go ahead with the plan, just in case they got “Hugh Greenwooded.”

I think we now have 35 on the main list, which one short, counting Cumberland. We also have 6 rookies, which is a full house and one Cat B, which is also one short. I am not sure about Aarts. Is he on the main list or is he still a rookie? Either way, he or Pickett will be on the main list.

Today they will either use the PSD to put Biggie back on the main list or upgrade one of Aarts or Pickett, free up a rookie spot and place him on the rookie list. Most likely it will be the second scenario.

The other thing they might do is use up the Cat B spot on an NGA kid if they can find one worth picking up or even on a Basketballer, again, if they can find one.

The commentary on the draft needs to change. Its toooo monotonous and very very repetitive. 'Can't believe he lasted to pick 34" give me a break FFS!
Listen to BBC sports when the soccer transfer window is open.
The media don't hold back.
We are all big boys now. And we should be told what weakness the kid has and what we really should expect.
Example.
Player pick 5.
Gun footballer, easy 200 gamer, great hands.
Pick 33 no way a pick 33 too slow, struggles in the air. Nice kick
Pick 76. Will be surprised he survives the 2 yrs in the system.
Pick 44. Gun footballer shiitty at training and a crap attitude

His kicking was average in the trial games, I don't think it's a feature, but then again he was coming back from injury. Really happy we chose Gibcus however, with the various 50/50 calls this one was the most important and we nailed it in my opinion.

the Brown call at 17 turned out to be inspired too.

no way was he still there at 28, and The Sonz was.

and Matt Johnson is a downhill skier who will never amount to anything

What's average for a midfielder.
If he is a 'see ball get ball' midfielder. His kicking shouldn't be a issue. He is winning the ball.
But if he is a Naish and is an outside player who is slow and struggles to hit targets.
Then that's a huge issue.
I have never had a issue with footballers that get there own ball.
Couglan, Maxfield, Knight's, Martin etc

Yeah Dildo would have drafted him last night for sure. Just as well our rookie pick is in front of them today otherwise he'd be taking Biggy also.

No, we already have the Max Cat A which is 6, only room for 1 Cat B

Correct but I believe we only have 35 (incl Cumberland) or 34 on the main list (excluding Cumberland).

34 + Cumberland + 6 Cat A rookies is 41, which is why we have probably upgraded a rookie but they don't get stated on draft night anymore.
