Cricket

Green is growing before our eyes. Came in at a critical time but showed great composure for such a young man. His footwork to the spinners wasn't great at the start of his innings but it's almost like he's learning on the job, he was getting into better positions as his innings went on. And not sure what's his better strength, batting or bowling. Thought it was his bowling but he looks like a serious batsman as well.

Hopefully the injury gods look kindly upon him!

Have only been keeping a loose eye on this series so can somebody tell me, has the batting - whilst big numbers - been slow to the point where it’s maybe cost a win for both sides in the 1st and 2nd tests ?

Just seems every time I turn over to the cricket there’s some big first innings, but it’s been slow to get them thus leaving a too short a time to bowl a side out twice? Or am I missing something ?

Great hundred by Meg Lanning 103 not out from 93 balls, a great captains knock. Aust 3/181 off 30 overs chasing 272.

Aust 4-209. I'd like to see McGrath's dismissal again, must have been close to a no-ball. Smith, the commentator (I think it's him) is barracking hard for the South Africans.

Disgraceful pitches, I haven't watched as much as I normally would. A couple of times when the ball has reversed has made it a little less tedious. It's just the luck of the draw with the ball as to whether it will reverse or not.

Indeed, the Pakistanis more worried about not losing a test than possibly winning one.

Won fairly comfortably, and got a chance to give a couple of others a hit, Gardner & Sutherland, biggest issue the girls generally have is, if there's a collapse in a final, no-one after 5 or 6 in the order has had a hit in the tournament.

I'm sure he's within the allowed degree of elbow flexion but you can't tell me Shaheen doesn't chuck it. Look at the violent snap of his wrist and try to do it yourself without bending and straightening your elbow.

Wow, what an escape for Carey. Should have cannoned into middle, but the ball hit the guard scratched into the pitch, changed direction and flicked the off stump without dislodging the bail. Was iinitially given out - I thought for LBW - but the third ump seemed to be checking for the catch behind - which was just as odd because it bounced a metre in front of the keeper.

Have thought the same my self.

What a terrible DRS by Cummins, impact outside leg stump, and missing leg stump. And that was after it had pitched outside off stump.

Probably his best Test innings yesterday, and it took a rip-snorter from an excellent young bowler to knock him over.

Carey beginning to show the class with the bat he did when he first came into the ODI side. Just wish he'd dive for a catch.

We wouldn't want to let Pakistan get 550 and have to go in late on day 4. Keep them to roughly the same score as us or less, and 200-250 will be a tough 4th innings target on a crumbling pitch.

Inspired spell of reverse swing in tandem here from Cummins and Starc has so far reaped 4 for 20. Cummins is magnificent.

1 wicket still to get & 120+ in front, Cummins will again has pushed this team to find a way through the Pakistan middle & lower order, supported by Starc, who's finally found some rhythm.

All results could still be possible. Shame these pitches aren't a little more responsive.

Pakistan dismissed 268, 123 behind. Well done captain Cummins & the bowling group.

The disintegration of the Pakistan innings highlights the importance of the Green/Carey partnership yesterday

0/11 , stumps day 3, leading by 134. Another 200 should be enough to encourage the team to go back into the field to pursue the last 10 wickets of the series & a deserved win.
