Solid, but can't play him when we have Grimes, Tarrant, Vlastuin playing together.
Gibcus gets more opportunity for mine.
Miller is good for depth for this season.
Pretty sure there'll be further injury issues at times in our defence so expecting Miller to get some more game time throughout the season. We're also gunna need a key defender size bloke or two ready to slot straight into the side sooner rather than later.
Miller, Gibber n Biggy might be a very tidy threesome playing down back before we know it.

Like many others he's missed out on 2 years of crucial development so I reckon he deserves some slack. The brains trust, who believe it or not, may have most of us on here covered, have persisted with him for a reason and hopefully lastnight showed a little bit of why they did.

He's nothing like DTLD.
Different athletic profile, much quicker and better leap but playing style he is. Stays within his limits, conservative ball use, tries to halve contests. I think Miller is showing what an old fashioned footballing apprenticeship looks like.

He came with all the tools except confidence.
He has stamina and knows when to chase the stoppage in front and when to stay and block or guard. He is a good mark and that will emerge as confidence grows.
He is also a good kick. Again greater confidence will see him use this more.

Most importantly though he has real speed. He has Rance like speed, and this is why he is still on the list.
One thing he does need to work on, well one of many is hand balling on the left.
His speed has meant he has been able get out of trouble without too much focus on this problem.
Expect him to play a 100 plus in partnership with Gibbo.

Hope we can use the mid term draft and a couple of early retirements, to get off the supplementary list?

Playing style he's not, though. Dave was a strong marking player, Ben is...not. Ben is faster and a better user.

People be praising Miller like he’s some kind of rookie in his first season. He’s not, he’s in his 5th year in our system. His claim to fame last night was keeping Ugle-Hagen quiet. An iPad and YouTube Kids would keep Ugle-Hagan quiet.

The reality is he’s getting a game purely because of injuries and is likely to be retained for a 6th season simply because we have absolutely nothing else. Needs to do better.
Who were you expecting?
Alex Rance?

I expect Gibbo will tire towards the second half. We need Miller to be ready.

When Grimes first started he spoiled all the time until he got the confidence and experience to go for the mark, and he’s turned into a damned good one.

I've said athletically they are different but I'm yet to see any difference n ball use. Both ultra-safe. And both try to halve contests. Pretty close so far.

This kind of argument always gets me.

So if Ugle-Hagan played a blinder, you would have said that he's a dud because he was beaten. But even though he completely blanketed UH, you still aren't happy.

Miller can't win either way.

Geez some are pretty harsh on Ben. Hasn’t really put a foot wrong in any of his games.
Sure he’s no world beater, but has done his job and played his role in every game so far. Don’t think we could really ask much more of him.

Yeah I prefer world beaters myself

Would be nice to have 22 world beaters running out every week, but I'm pretty sure the system won't allow you to have this. So we have to fudge around with blokes who just get their basic job done properly n with a minimum of fuss.

Kid should be playing every week from here. Has the tools to be a solid kpf for years. If Grimes returns id love to see Gibcus given a few games at chf and leaving Miller in the backline

Couldn't really ask much more from a 3rd game key back. I've really liked what I've seen.
Good spoiler, calm head, good closing speed, neat disposal.
Project player pick 63 in the 2017 draft has been developed for when we need him. Tick.
