RFC VFL average Frees For 22, BH Hawks 18 before today. So they were +11 and we were -13 from our average. How can that be?

It only makes sense if the umps barrack for the dawks, or have bet on the game, or both.

Van Hooganband kicked 6 for Melbourne 2nds.
He wouldve been the perfect Riewoldt replacement

I didn't see the game but I've just looked at the stats. Banks, Brown, Clarke, Hicks, Johnson, Ralphsmith, Ryan, Sonsie, Tarrant: not a tackle between them. Cumberland, Dow, Henderson, Miller, Olden, Stack, Street, Ross, Young: 1 tackle each. Martyn, Tucker 2 each. Aarts and Parker 3 each. RCD 5.

I make that 24 tackles. That's not good.

Ross and Farts were a lot worse than RCD and Dow. Ross opponent dominated the early part of the last term
Ross was pretty good from what I saw but that's expected at VFL level. Hardly saw RCD at all . Aarts is not a midfielder. Dow coming along well.

I'm drawing a long bow here Spook, but why would you tackle when it's never rewarded?

Even the most blatant holding the ball calls we generate are usually called play on.

Jason Bennett calls the block and has a small giggle coz he knows the free kick rubbish we've copped.

What is it now 9-29?

You could hear both him and browneye pissing themselves laughing at the umpiring in the last qtr when their direct mic's were turned off.

I was thinking RCD was ok but I wasn't watching most of the game very closely.
I did watch the start of the last cause I was curious to see how RCD, Ross and Dow would manage the situation where they were being really challenged.
What I saw was pretty disappointing really, though I am hopeful I misread them getting totally overun by a VFL midfield.

I missed the 1st qtr and apparently RCD was on fire. Thought we were smashed in the midfield in the 2nd half. They did as they pleased. I agree overall very disappointing as a midfield group.

From the limited viewing thought Dow was our best
We are ruining Stack in the forward line imo - he's most effective behind the play
Why are we playing Martyn in the backline when we are in desparate need of mids?
RCD is limited imo and will struggle to make it as an AFL mid
Sonsie did a few good things but didn't get too involved - has the nous and skill to make it, just needs time to develop.
Parker is too light - seems to have lost even more weight - in the departure lounge
Banks and Brown are nice tidy players but are way off AFL - need more time to develop
Clarke didn't do much

Yes. And this is why the bleating calls of “play the kids” can be totally misguided.

Exactly. They need to show something at the level, we don't gift games for the sake of it. Dimma has shown time and time again, if you're good enough you'll play. I admittedly haven't watched much VFL this season, but I thought Cumberland was pretty good on Sunday. Can see him getting a game in the near future.

Someone else mentioned it elsewhere
Tigers 28 tackles. Not good enough. Hawks had 56. There's the difference between winning and losing right there, desire.
