Why did Street win the Cleary award?

Interesting comment we all know from Ross. He has to play wing in AFL but like mid time in the VFL, and calls himself a defensive mid. Why don't we play him there????

Fighting for a spot with Cotch and Graham I think. They would be our defensive midfielders right now wouldn't they? I don't think he plays in place of either right now, but a possibly option if we decide to rest Cotch in the coming weeks.

They're competing for a spot. Both going well I reckon.
Ryan definitely does his best work in the ruck and around the ground.
Does have forward craft but not particularly strong or powerful on the lead.
Definitely competing with Soldo who looked good in the ruck and up forward

Jack Ross BOG, very good game.
Rioli Jnr and Stack also had very good games, in our best.
Matt parker seemed to be everywhere and fought hard, just needs to use the ball with more care.

Super impressed with Tom Brown getting better each week. Good over head and a good ball user.
Collier Dawkins worked hard as did Mansell. Ben Miller was also impressive in the back half.

Cumberland just looks so dangerous in the air or on the ground, 3 goals.
Dow had some good moments, very clean with the ball in hand. Sonsie looks all class didn’t have a heap of it but when he does get it uses it well.

Ryan needs another 10kg of muscle to really compete as a key forward.

Bauer was going up for marks at the same time as Colina who’d smash the pack making it difficult for others to mark

Why do we bother? Looks like we just copied Scumwood investing into another non Aussie Rules athlete such as Cox only for his height.
Category B rookie. Hardly costing us much. Might not work, probably not likely to work but if it does.......

Sounds like a few in the VFL side are starting to make advances in their careers so who knows we could be in for a surprise later on in the season when kids start taking established stars positions at AFL

Good signs if so.

Smashed them around the ground but our forward line is totally dysfunctional. Ross, Rioli, Parker, Miller great quarter. Castagna still turning it over at will. Haven't seen many worse at missing simple handball targets.
Castagna’s skill levels not even VFL standard. Handballing to players ankles again.

Miller looking very assured.
Ross and Rioli a level above
He was never picked in the ones because of his skill level

Jeez there is a stark difference between that sort of VFL game and the AFL.

Great to win and some encouraging performances, but big gulf between that and AFL.

Ross & Aarts always look too good for VFL. I'd expect them both to get another crack if they are let go at end of this year (doubt that happens BTW).

Love to see Stack get a call up, he did a lot of little things, pressure/tackles/spoils.

I disagree. No player will be picked if their skill isn't at a minimum level. Constantly missing simple handball targets is not acceptable. Castagna's clangers this year 2.9, last year 1.3. Turnovers this year 3.7, last year 2.2. Defensive pressure is well down on previous years as well. That is why he's not in the 1s. And if he doesn't improve those aspects of his game at VFL level, barring injuries, he won't be back. 1st quarter he was abysmal, he did get better. Right now for both skill and defensive pressure I would have both MRJ and Cumberland ahead of Castagna atm.
