Game Day - Geelong V Richmond

You genuinely think he went out to deliberately try and damage Prestia?

It's 20 minutes of playing time, which doesn't count the breaks unlike the concussion time. No reason you couldn't use it in a concussion situation risk free essentially because they will sit the same about amount of time if they can come back anyway. You have to go straight to the rooms on a stretcher but again, inconsequential.

The thing is, despite the rubbish written after the Port game, the medical staff actually don't give a stuff about the footy, they do what they think is best for the player, always. So if they don't think he needed a stretcher, they won't call it.
Are u serious? We have swept them away in 3 finals series and we start to get the game back on our terms and the dog goes past the ball and bumps our most creative midfielder and you think it's not on purpose.
You must be a judge in Victoria justice system.
That was planned and executed
They don't care about the next 4 games, they fear us.

They just about kicked a pass over Dion and medicos. And that mark would have been the sensible time to stop the game.

If you delve into the AFL archives you can find footage of yours truly attending to a player after a marking contest late in the game. It turned out they had cramp and as I was relieving it the player standing on the mark steps on my hand trying to smother the kick.

You can quite clearly see the words stop the *smile* game next time come out of my mouth towards the umpire. Unfortunately my influence was limited.

You are off your dial on this one I'm afraid Zips, pure emotion and no rational thought. There's not a chance in hell that was pre-mediated in any way shape or form. The first Stewart knew about it was a second after it happened.

After the last couple of weeks and todays game we simply just have to make the 8. We can win it from there. Is probably the most even top 8 i can ever remember. Prestia and Balta play today we win. Finally a game worth watching

The control for stopping the game is actually with the medical staff (unless the ball is about to be in play near them). If you have a serious injury requiring the stretcher you signal to the bench who inform the emergency umpire who informs the umpires on field.

Unless you do that the umpires are never going to stop the game. Using the stretcher is heavily policed to stop it being tactical however and it is a necessity use only which is why you often see a player with a significant leg injury have to be assisted to hobble from one side of the ground to the bench on the other, even though there is no way they will take any further part in the game.
Im going to say this right now. TBR your are nothing but an apologist for the AFL. Go and join the media or are already a part of it.? Yes Im drunk, so be it.

Pure emotion??

Stop defending the dog

We know these youngsters are going to be beauties but Gibcus 3 disposals and Clarke 4 disposals time to go back to the ressies. I didn't think Clarke should've been in against the cats, as they have big bodies. Got brushed aside too easy in some contests. Also didn't lay a tackle.
I also think Soldo as the sub wasn't a wise move.

I doubt Hardwick agrees with you. What did he say at the end of his presser? “It was the kind of game where you learn alot about yourself, and your opposition, and you look forward to the next time you play them”. Read into that what you will.

I took it to me that if it was a local game of footy they would be pre-booking the ambulances.

If you don't play the kids in these games when do you play them?
BigG might need a rest but Miller is as bad as Cathwaite.
Clarke you have him or Castagna or Farts.
I rather Clarke stays in and partners Rioli.

What *smile*. He at least knew about it when he decided to run past the ball, jump in the air and hit Prestia in the head? What else was he trying to do in that situation. Your defence of Stewart's intention is ludicrous.

Just had a look at the Geelong BF board. Geez they are bunch of arrogant *smile*. It's like they've already forgotten 2017,2019,2020 when we beat them in all 3 finals series to win the flag.

But the worst is they acknowledge Stewart's weak act but basically thank him for it as the 4 points are worth it. What a pathetic bunch of arsewipes.
You really didnt expect anything different though, did you Riddles. :cautious:

Jeez what a game. Great atmosphere and a simply huge effort after half time. Not many games you feel cheated about a result, but that was about the most unfair outcome I can recall. I kept waiting for the umps to square up the free kick count a bit but they never did. And again it’s all about the ones we don’t get that they do. And the crazy ones they got Geelong got
50 for pushing after a mark -
Holding Ball against Broad when miers took it off him
Insufficient intent against graham slung when he kicked
Twice Stengel interfered with Broad in marking contest no free
Not one shepherding in Rick contest they got 2
The free against Jack to Stewart
The free against Lynch when Jack
Marked
No free for holding at centre bounces when Short was held numerous times
Hawkins slung Grimes out of a marking contest in first qtr play on

So many more. It was so frustrating yet it still appeared we would prevail against all odds. The players can stand tall they were magnificent.

The worst is this and the Syd game likely mean no top 4.

What big Richo is trying to say is
That 21 other Richmond players were reluctant to knock out Stewart because they thought the same.

Yeh you can be a contrarian but to argue he didn’t know what he was doing is farcical. And disappointing. TBR can be reasonable but this stance makes you wonder if it isn’t more about provocation. It’s not a defendable action by Stewart.

Nah your the guru, and no one is ever right.

They certainly aren't when they are wrong.

I take that to mean we just blew a game we should have won and we won't make the same mistake when it counts.

There's nothing unusual about body checking a player in that situation so they can't run on to the next possession, it was the raising of the elbow that was the unusual bit and I think he has just done that without thought. Personally I think the idea he said I'm going to line this bloke up and go bang is more ludicrous, no player has done that for a very long time.
