Shane Edwards

The issue is really simple. Is Shane a part of the future? No.

Weird post tbh - we all know he is not part of our long term future - so - we are not talking about 2023 or 2024, we talking about squeezing finals games in 2022 and how best to retire a champion respectfully.

Is Fyfe part of Freo‘s future, doubt it, but they play him, same with any player in their last year at any club.

maybe he means future as in players getting to training on hoverboards, an expansion side from Mars and that.

The problem with Edwards this season is, when you're trying to give youngsters some AFL game time, and with expectation they will be go through quiet periods, you need your senior experienced players to stand up and fill the void.

He's disappearing way too often in games and not impacting...much like one of our kids. So if that's the case, play a kid instead.

2WTF? Only Moju had a quieter night n he only played half a qtr.
Shedda 15 disposals, 1 clearance
Graham 13, 1, Pickett 13, 2, Short 15, 2, Rioli 15, 0, Bolton 15, 2, Sonsie 11, 3, Ralph 9, 0.

These raw stats aren't the be all and end all, but they are one measurement, and suggest 'gave us nothing', man down is overstatement, and people see what they want to see. Nothing new that.

But this week is his 300th, and that should absolutely be celebrated for the wonderful player he has been for this club. I hope it's also a spark for a much needed win.

Gawd. You’d think anyone criticising players and their performances this year is heaping on personal abuse. There’s a bit on anger on this thread but that’s about it. This is a footy forum where we are all allowed to have an opinion. The same posters who were so smarmy and too cool for school, who wrote off Ross and backed Castagna recon sheds is above criticism cos??? They say so.

People can say whatever the hell they want, and so can I.

Its always the hyperbole and disrespect that gets me. I hate it. I'm not big on failure to consider the context as well.

Yeh of course you can snake but if you want to keep telling people they are wrong and don’t know what they are talking about you’ll get some backs up. Have your opinion but it’s just that.

Say what you want about his current form but to play 300 games of League footy is a remarkable achievement from Shane.
Deserves every bit of the praise that comes his way this week. Most importantly though I hope he plays well in this milestone game & we get the win.

Raw basic numbers ignore quality and impact of the possession, also completely ignore any detail of the players work rate and pressure influence or scoring involvement. Pretty sure his disposal efficiency was just over 50% so he had 8 decent possessions for the game n 7 crap ones.
As for throwing those other names in there. I'm pretty sure most of those blokes have had a few games where they have had major impact and influence during quite a few games this year. Can't expect every player to be a star every single game, so sometimes it's a matter of trying to get maximum impact from little opportunity. Shedda's unfortunately getting minimal impact from little opportunity in nearly every game he's played this year.

Just finally, of the other players you've listed I'd rate just one of them as star capability of the seven, four as good players and two obviously as beginners.
The star had a very good first half n was bloody poor in the second half. Shedda was once a star, his capability to carve holes through traffic was premium, game's unfortunately passed him by as happens to all players sooner or later. Shedda simply can't keep up any more.

Yes I'm just another goose with an opinion, so who cares? I just express a view and argue a case. If you can't get someones back up on a tigers footy forum when we're losing, when can you? People get my back up, I get people's back up, so it goes, who cares. It would be a boring old PRE if we all just nodded in agreement and never challenged any views.
