So basically if you are good enough at your craft as a forward you don't need to be a man mountainThere's a few handy exceptions, Ablett 185cm's, Dunstall and Modra were 188, Hudson 189 and Plugger 191.

Brodie Mihocek - 192cmTrouble is, key forwards now are close to 200cm and Bauer is 192cm. That is not short by any stretch of the imagination. He is going to have to be that much better than comparable players to succeed. It can be done and he has some attributes which will help. But like Cumberland he is going to have to be a little bit better and a lot smarter to make it. Not familiar enough with Bauer, but if he is strong and can read the game well he could be a very good key forward.
Just as an aside, Jack Riewoldt is 193cm, so only 1cm taller. It can be done.

Brodie Mihocek - 192cm
Jack Gunston - 193cm
Mitch Georgiades - 192cm
Toby Greene - 181cm
Jamie Elliott - 177cm
Tim Membrey - 190cm
These are very different players all shapes and sizes but all play similar to a KPF style even though there are some that are 177-190
Its the game style leading marking leaping and agility thats important not just 3-5cm difference
If Bauer was 5 cm taller we would all be having wet dreams
Early days, but I think Ryan can replace Lynch, or Jack for that matter. And then latter in his career he can play ruck, much the same as Paul Salmon did.Need to work on recruiting our Lynch replacement.
I just don’t see that ability in Ryan.Early days, but I think Ryan can replace Lynch, or Jack for that matter. And then latter in his career he can play ruck, much the same as Paul Salmon did.
You might be right, I'm looking forward to watching him develop.I just don’t see that ability in Ryan.
I see him as a mobile forward/ruck in the Vickery mild but not a power forward. They are obviously the number one forward, usually tall and who are strong on the lead and/or able to take pack marks.
I see Ryan more as a number 2 forward who is a mobile tall and provides an alternative marking option
192 with a good leap...take that any day.Trouble is, key forwards now are close to 200cm and Bauer is 192cm. That is not short by any stretch of the imagination. Everyone uses the body they are given to build their skill set. If he was 5cm taller then would he be as fast, or as mobile, or jump as high? Perhaps not.Brodie Mihocek - 192cm

If he was 5cm taller, with the same skill set, he would have been a top 10 draft pick in his applicable draft year.Everyone uses the body they are given to build their skill set. If he was 5cm taller then would he be as fast, or as mobile, or jump as high? Perhaps not.
Going well Bauer.
