Frees 25-19, don’t need to say who’s way. Look, I thought they weren’t TOO bad but my main gripe was the amount of times we tackled them and they dropped the ball or didn’t even try and get rid of it and ….nothing. I don’t know how many HTB or incorrect disposal frees we got but I can recall about 1. Even James Brayshaw in the last commentated “Carlton player just let go off the ball. And again.” then sure as shut they pinged Bolton for incorrect disposal right after those 2 dropping the balls.

That was with 3:15 left.

45m from Richmond goal. Carlton player tackled. Swung around, drops the ball. "Play On."

5 seconds later, exact same situation. This time Carlton player tackles Shai Bolton. "Holding The Ball."

It's so infuriating.

Is cripps a protected species, he seems allowed to do whatever he wants - throws, dropping the ball, high tackles etc

Our players called touched when McKay kicked that goal in the 2nd, and yet no review given = goal to them, meanwhile Lynch's kick was reviewed and called touched with no Cartoon player calling it.

Where's the logic flogs?

Watched the game at a pub last night with no sound and was intrigued by the ARzc decision where it appeared that Balta got his foot to the ball after cartoon player did. Not sure what the goal umpires call was but when the decision came up on the scoreboard it said ‘goal’ rather than ‘umpires call’ so I guess it was an fARC call that it was a goal. They replayed it to death and then came up with a goal to cartoon. IF ONLY ARC GAVE US THAT AMOUNT OF TIME ON REVIEW IN THE ELIM FINAL LAST YEAR WHEN TOM KICKED A WINNING GOAL.

Sorry. I was at the ground. Three Carlton players were calling for it and started to set up for a kick in. It was touched. Don’t know if the McKay one was or not though.

I didn't notice it, but point is they reviewed Lynch's kick but not McKay's nor Curnows soccer goal.

I haven't been able to find a replay to see if I was correct but was Miller taken out of a marking contest by either silvagni or young at the top of our goal square in the last quater. It appeared like at the game.
Also lynch held in the 3rd and blocked by weitering in the last should and the McKay dropping the ball all should have been paid, but I'm not surprised

As always you could go through a game and pick numerous decisions to complain about.
My 3 gripes- Dusty getting pinged for holding the ball when he tries to create play, while Carlton players continually deliberately walked into tackles cuddling the ball, making no attempt to get rid of it. I reckon Hewiit did that about 8 times for 8 ball ups.

And then Carlton kicked the ball about 5 mtrs 10 times and got paid a mark, we did it a few times too. Then suddenly a kick to Vlastuin in our forward 50 is call too short. That is another rule the umps pluck out occasionally.

And my 3rd was the deliberate against Taranto. It went sideways off his shin while he was begin tackled. Ridiculous. But then players, from both teams are allowed to walk the ball over the line all night. Again, like the holding the ball, it is clearly a direction given to umpires, but it leads to players who do intentionally take the ball over getting away with it, while others, with no intention to go near the boundary line are pinged.

That rugby union throw near the boundary line was just staggering. I could see that instantly. Crowd in that section started booing straight away. But of course 4 umpires couldn’t see it.

Oh, and of course the *smile* tv commentators that we have to put up with every year either didn’t see it as well or chose their usual “uh-oh…better not say anything” approach.

Jeezus. I know we have butchered the ball but can we just get a bit of a break from these *smile*? Its always the ones we don't get that hurt us.

I mean Prestia was held, no free. Why?

The deliberate against taranto - it was a monty. What option did he have?

I could go through the replay and find at least 10 potential frees that we could have got but didn't.

Nothing changes.

The Prestia one was awful. Clearest hold all night, directly in front of the umpire (think it was Meredith), no more than 5m away, staring straight at it. Seriously, how can it now be given. 88k people in the stands saw it from further away, how can he not see it from 5m?? And to just rub salt into the wound, he then paid 50 against Prestia for complaining about it.

He ran about 25m with the ball at 1 time too. Admittedly he then got tackled and we got HTB for it, but how about paying too far?

You can see clearly there how these flogs are nothing but egotistic. Called it 'abuse'. What's abuse? If it was derogatory, Prestia would've been reported but no, it was just a question by Prestia defending the free he didn't get and this ego-headed flog just thought of AUTHORITY!!

Agree with those and add the non 50 to us when Curnow incorrectly threw the ball back - should have been a 50

Miller got a 2 handed push in the back at the top of the square. It appeared clearly a push in the back in real time, then they showed a replay on the screen. 4 umpires, astounding none of them saw it.

No joke, they then paid the most minor push in the back (might have been to us) about 10m outside of 50 on the boundary line. Thanks flogs. How about you see the more important 1 at the top of the square.

There was definitely a block by Weitering in the last, he held Lynch out of the contest (they had a 2 on 1) at the top of the square and McGovern took the mark, but Weitering held Lynch out of the contest without having any will to go to it, hence it wasn't a marking contest between Lynch and Weitering and should have been paid for either a hold or a block.

Did anyone hear on the TV

Player took a mark. One grab.

And after about 3-4 seconds,

Extra umpire offers proximal umpire the advice

'Blow the whistle'

The extra ump really came into its own

we need to learn this in the appropriate moment. There was a classic 1 on 2 in our forward line where the Carlton player took the ball and just ran into the tackle and then pretended to hand pass it. Ball up. I don’t like the feel of it but that is the rule. No prior is a ball up.

I actually reckon we were mildly shafted, which is normal, as opposed to beyond belief inarguably shafted. There was an 'interesting' one in the first Q, forget who involved, no way to prove it, but I swear, ump blew whistle to pay free to us for dropping it, then tackler fell into carlton players back at very end, ump changed his mind between blowing whistle and paying the free, free to them in the back.

to be clear, blew whistle for a free to us, paid a free to them.

It was Jack Graham. I was up swearing at the ump after that call.

Carlton player clearly drops the ball backwards between his legs then falls forward and Graham goes down with him.

There was clearly two events with the dropping of the ball happening before the called push in the back

Probably an acknowledgement they stuffed up last year and are trying to correct their decision.
