Round 12: the haemorrhoid flare up games.

Speaking for myself there'd be no regrets. There are no guarantees in the draft, but picking the type of player we desperately need would have been enough for mine.

For example, In hindsight Coleman-Jones was a bit of a dud pickup and damn Oscar Allen wouldve been handy instead (imagine Allen and balta in our side now?), but we went for the type we needed you win some and lose some so not going to bag the clubs decision to take CJ over Allen. If we had of gone for another small fwd or flanker then different story
CCJ was never a need, he's a classic tweener, too spindly for the ruck, not physical enough for a key forward role. That to me was a pick from an inexperienced recruiter. I personally wanted Sam Taylor but Allen would have been fine too, the list of key forwards slipping through the net is mounting at an alarming rate. Lewis (2016), Larkey (2016), Allen (2017), Van Rooyen (2021) Keeler (2022). Having watched a bit of Keeler in the VFL last weekend I'd say we've missed another one, the concerns about work rate unfounded, he was chasing down players, tackling and most importantly, applying scoreboard pressure. I think Clarke suffers from a SOS blindspot, the only difference being his Achilles heel is tall forwards and not midfielders.

And here’s the thing with talls.
Even if they’re only average, they can command reasonable draft currency. CCJ for pick 20 as a point in case.
Try getting that for an unsuccessful HBF

Unless Kenny tells his boys to slow it down and save your energy in the 2nd half, we could be hitting the record books again.

He reminds me of a cross between two former Dees, David Neitz and David Schwartz.
If the kid is a ‘half-bred’ of those two without Schwartz knee injuries, Melb have got a beauty on their hands.

People forget Watts. Kid was doomed from the start, so you can get things wrong or overlook players.

I guess time will tell with Bauer and Bradtke.

Samson is a ruck with say small stints forward , not the other way around.

Blair has been a good fixer, cleaning up after Vickery & CCJ. Right now Allen commands a top 10 pick, Taylor likewise, CCJ worth a packet of crisps.

Just aa bad are the frees given... by the umpire 100m away.
"Too high"
While the umpire in charge let it go because the player ducked.
Play on is the right call but the dingbat from the back reckons he knows better
The umpire who is 100 m away shouldn’t be allowed to give the free, in my opinion.

Position yourselves better.

There are four of you.

No legitimate frees shouldn’t be missed as much as they do.

Look after the player who first makes the attack on the ball, not the one , ducking, doing 360 , trying to bulldoze his way through and is caught and ball is hit out…

Look after the players irrespective of the team, player or colours, or past !
