Great great contest at the end leading to Marlion’s match winner.

I hate to say it, but he needs to flop.

He gets held, blocked and chopped at almost every contest. Which happens when you're a 206 cm player who competes in the air.

He needs to learn how to flap his arms, and let the umps know they're infringing. It sucks to say it, but that's footy. Once he gets a couple of cheapies, he'll find it easier to take the grabs too.

We’ll agree to disagree. The lack of effort to spoil the Cadman mark was very poor.
You're saying he wasn't good in the clinches at the death?

More broadly, I get annoyed that people play the blame game every time any piece of play doesn't go our way or oppo wins a contest. Sometimes its just good play, or we made a blue. It wasn't lack of effort in any case, he was buggered, and he's learning, and he made up for it!

The one in the first quarter was blatant. On the lead, held back, arms chopped. Play on. *smile* off.

The kick dropped 3 metres short, caught everyone flat footed. Cadman got a bit lucky.
Good players read the play and get to contests. The last two weeks in particular he hasn’t and even when he does, doesn’t affect the contest like a 206cm player should.

Even today, he only took three marks. He’s 22 & been in the system for three seasons. Fair enough he shows promise in the ruck, but I’m not sold that he’ll turn into the star we all want & need.

Like I said, agree to disagree. I’m a hard taskmaster & hope I’m wrong about him long term. But I lived every year of the 37 & no longer deal in hope.

He's played a dozen games. I'm prepared to cut him some slack (as a old ruckman myself). Lets see how he's tracking after 40-50 games.
He's got the tools, just needs a bit more time.

at this moment yes. If Lynch was in the side, the opposition's third best would not beat him.

Thats a separate argument. The debate was about Ryans effort in that particular contest. You are wrong on that, Bigwow is spot on. And that is putting aside that even if you were right, he redeemed himself.
