Basketball

Palubinskas! Now there’s a name I haven’t seen in along time. A scoring phenom. Not sure about his place in setting cultural standards though. Played against him once - best spectating I’ve ever done.
You’re a lucky man Fiten. Playing against the great man. His 1976 Olympics made me think basketball was a viable sport option. Until I played against A Gaze. He was/is a superstar and treated our team with distain. Pointed out Gaze to my young bloke the other day and he said who is that? What NBA team did he play for? 😅

Patty picked up by the Heat. Great situation for him - playing for the best coach in the league. With the hardest name to spell since that fella from Duke resigned.

I'm pretty surprised Patty got picked up, he has had a pretty ordinary season to date imo.

Love the guy, but his best is waaay behind him in 2024.

Agreed. I’m split on whether I even want him in this Olympic team. Time to make way methinks.
Unfortunately, it looks like time has caught up with him. While he still runs around well, he can't do what he used to do anymore. As you say mate, time to move on to the next generation of talent we have coming through. Perhaps with Patty as a mentor for them.

He will be there no 15 on the roster. NBA teams value experience- the Heat had Haslem on their list for about 30 years, but he only played about 5 mins a year late in his career.

This year has been a write off, but he his 22/23 wasnt terrible, so i guess they hope if things go pear shaped injury wise, he can come off the bench and shoot a few 3 at some point if needed.

Hmmmm Mr Fraser - tough one. So many questions - particularly culturally. I think we have to see him suit up to really find out. This is the time to do it. If it doesn’t work out - I’m not sure we’re in medal contention anyway - so no real harm done. If it works - then great. One thing will be certain though - if he’s in we’re going to be seriously hard to score against. He’s in for mine.

Also - having Simmons in will have a domino effect on how the rest of the team is selected. Will be significantly different to the team chosen for the W Champs.

Well - that’s the end of that. Always been in Simmons camp - but his playing days might be numbered.
I like him as well. When physically and mentally fit one of the best going around.
On another topic went to Melbourne United V Illawarra last night. Didn’t realize how good Delly was. Clearly a level above everyone else on court.

Good for you. What an amazing game. I run hot and cold on Delly. It’s interesting what you say. Of the half dozen times I’ve seen him play live I’ve never thought that.

Much the same as you usually, but controlled the game for United last night in the last half and overtime. Interestingly enough my young bloke was more interested in the Illawarra coach -“that’s Jayson Tatum’s father”.

Same, it’s looking horrendous. Might be the biggest waste of talent in Australian sporting history.
