Thomson Dow

I understand that Dow is not a midfield bull, he doesn't have the size for that. My question is can he grab the ball and be evasive rather than trying to gain possession through strength?

DS
Maybe just start with "can he grab the ball".

Gets a reprieve. He's lucky he had some credits in the bank from the trial games.
Whilst obviously second to the ball a lot last week he did have the most pressure acts for the side so he kept working hard defensively even though comprehensively thrashed.

Hunt the ball son or your ticket will be punched..

This is the biggest game of Dow’s football career.
Absolutely Redmond. If he decides to play body on body with Cripps or Hewett instead of hunting the football his career may be over at half time.

He won’t body on body with Rowell and was rightly torn a new one.

I think he will be sub, but if he stuffs up again IT'S OVER for him.

Dow needs to use his agility to hunt the ball and avoid body contact. Needs to believe.

Very good 2nd quarter there by Thomson (5 contested possessions) while under siege and they barely called his name once. 3 excellent contested releases (one resulting in Balta's goal) and 2 wasted by poor disposals by the runners. Joel Selwood seems to think he is Ryan Mansell. I recall mentioning how the commentators would always miss a young Shane Edwards' handballs from in tight cos he was too quick. A long way to go, but you have to put game time into someone with hands like that. With better kicks on the outside and his work gets rewarded....and noticed. Has a great chance with Prestia going down, interesting to see if he can do it in the center clearances against the big boys when those wins result in excellent scoring opportunities.

When he does get his hands on it he can deliver a decent handball to a team mate in good space
Good signs … again

Carroll (similar type and skillset) from Cartoon played better and he was drafted a year earlier, 1 year younger, played 11 games less and was drafted 20 picks later.
