Hitherto, when he got the ball you’d be nervous.

Not now. Looks assured, I want the ball in his hands.

Next stop: midfield.

Tracking very well, excellent improvement. Looked like he was playing some midfield tonight.

His improvement has been a real bright spot in an otherwise bleak season.

I’ve switched from worrying about him in possession to expecting things to happen when he has it. I think he might have a winner brain..?

Again, MRJ constantly appeared where the ball was. In past years he always seemed to be where the ball wasn't.

Something has clicked and he is reading the game and positioning so much better. I reckon this has a lot to do with raising confidence as he now gets the opportunity to be creative. I hope this is good coaching as improvement like this in a few of the other young players would be great.

Best game he’s played for us. (y)

Agreed best game for the club and he's continuing to build.

I do love the way he attacks, he loves looking inside for the 25-30m inboard kick into the corridor. Its such a damaging kick, and the big thing we needed to do was getting him to go from hitting that kick 1 in 2 or 1 in 3, to 3 in 4. He's getting there and whats great is if the kick doesn't come off, its just rinse repeat with him, no dwelling on the error, just continue to compete and look for that shorter kick into the corridor. None of this bombing into the forward 50 like so many others did, which we chewed up and spat out regularly by Lever, May and McDonald.

I'm glad he's starting to perform because I love having Maurice Rioli's son at the club.
Starting to show a Maurice Rioli Senior-like composure and evasiveness in heavy traffic as well. Love watching this kid develop.

It’s a shame he isn’t a better by foot but is competing well and improving his offensive game. Would like to see him in the middle a bit more given the limited options at the moment.

Credit where is due
Played well last night
Only knock that he need to ensure he is forward of the ball
Not behind the ball
Play to your strengths, which is your speed

Rapt

I think he is far more effective when he roams high.
Totally disagree , why ?
Don’t think he is big on understanding game plan
Needs to simplify things and play to his strengths.
Getting possession inside D50 last night isn’t going to assist in winning games
Need to keep some structure when you gain back possession
