Sorry DD you criticise people for giving Bling votes but you have the audacity to give votes to McGuane?!
No need to apologise WT, I'm big and ugly enough to take hit.
As far as having audacity? All about perspective I guess.
If you want to look at stats, Bling wins. If you want to look at who was actually effective McGuane had it all over Bling.
McGuane is not pretty and he butchers the ball, but he beat plenty of forward 50 entries and beat his opponent. Even sucking him in to give away 50m. He was constantly in the thick of the action and under far more pressure than most of the players where it is magnified most, the forward 50 for the opposition. He made some mistakes, sure as always, he is raw and untidy. Yet with the amount of ball coming in thick and fast he held his head high and worked his ass off. He didn't just get points for trying though, he was effective. It's easy to concentrate on his stuff ups but he was in the heat of it more than any player and his positives in a zone we got creamed in far outweighed his mistakes.
Yet he beat plenty of attacks and showed some fire and aggression in a side that was insipid and submissive.
Tambling drove the ball inside 50, especially if you look at the stats. yet when he did it, he was hesitant, allowed players to run back and fill holes/man up while he decided where to kick and basically was a lot more ineffective than he might have looked on a highlight reel or on TV.
I've copped flack for being a Tambling fan, so I am comfortable in saying it was a ordinary game for him. Tambling is capable of so much more but he was played out of position in a role that does not suit him and magnified his current weaknesses. Story of the night for so many!
I'm sorry you find that audacious.
