Unsure if correct board

Random question, I have an Ipod from 2009, I think it is a nano.
Unfortunately I had it in my pocket when I went swimming and have stuffed it up. I have checked with apple shop and they concured.
I just had it for music and had downloaded music on it as well as CD's from home and borrowed.
The computer I had Itunes was family computer that is now at the tip, and the songs are not on a cloud.

Is there anyway i can bring up a list of songs i had on ipod and get them put back on. I now I can for downloaded ones but unsure of the CD ones. The guy at Apple thought there would be.

Any help would be aprreciated.

About 4 years ago my computer died and i feared i would lose all my song's on my ipod. I found a company (USA based i think) on the internet who could copy the files from my ipod and transfer to my computer, for a nominal fee... thankfully it worked.

I had to send them files from my ipod which i guess you wont be able to do but it may be worth checking out their website to see if they can help. They were helpful when i contacted them. They might be able to tell you if its at all possible to extract the data or direct you to someone in Australia who can help, if they cant.

The company was called Copytrans.

Good luck

Never had an iPod but I'd open it up and pull the hard drive out. If the iPod's cooked you can throw the rest away. Not sure whether an iPod drive has standard (i.e. SATA) connectors on it, but if so it could be hooked up to a PC with a device made by Vantec (I have one of these for exactly this purpose - transferring or recovering data from loose drives) and connected to a PC via USB. Even then, if the drive fails to spin up you're in trouble; if the platters are damaged, you're in trouble.

Edit: Make that hook it up to a Mac. A Windows PC likely won't recognise the file system. Do Mac's even have USB?

Edit: Apparently the file system is FAT32, so a Windows PC should be able to read it.

Failing that, you'd need to use a specialist recovery company as suggested above, still with no guarantee of success and the potential for considerable expense.
