Seems like its tank tank tank for years to get number 1 draft picks and build your side around them together with paying unders lots of brown paper bags to Saad Williams Serrah Hewitt McGovern McDonald Setterfield Pittonet etc…Is it the era of the Tankers? First Melbourne now Carlscum
There were a lot of Carlton players from other clubs last night: Setterfield, McGovern, McDonald, Williams, Saad, Docherty, Pittonett, Hewitt, Newman, Kennedy, Fogarty, Plowman.Seems like its tank tank tank for years to get number 1 draft picks and build your side around them together with paying unders lots of brown paper bags to Saad Williams Serrah Hewitt McGovern McDonald Setterfield Pittonet etc…
Get Marchbank fit and they're setTaking the politics out of it, they look very very good atm. Structurally pretty sound, maaaybe a hole down back, couple of smalls showing a bit, Mackay and Curnow are totally dynamic when on song, a freak athlete junior ruck, plus Cripps and Walsh. Confidence booming. We know the feeling when it all turned around for us.
So Teague and Bolton and their recruiting team would be grinning like cheshire cats...and expecting some credit no doubt! Early days but looks like good times ahead for their supporters. We know the feeling well. They looked young, quick and lively and our blokes looked the opposite last week. There were a lot of Carlton players from other clubs last night: Setterfield, McGovern, McDonald, Williams, Saad, Docherty, Pittonett, Hewitt, Newman, Kennedy, Fogarty, Plowman.
Yep. It's all paying off now....Is it the era of the Tankers? First Melbourne now Carlscum
The contents of Carlscum brown paper bags are exempt from the salary capThe (apparent) rise of Carlton has been a long time coming. They have had ample first round picks plus a big injection of external talent that presumably has maxed out their salary cap. Say they play finals this year, even finish top 4, how will they improve from here?
The player managers will be lining up for pay rises if they have a good year and they can't fit them all in Curnow and Cripps would look good in Yellow and BlackThe (apparent) rise of Carlton has been a long time coming. The days of brown paper bags under the table might be gone but you can’t bring in the likes of Cerra, Hewitt, Saad, Martin, Williams, McGovern and Newman and not face some kind of salary cap squeeze. Just recently, we saw a similar scenario play out at Collingwood.Oh c'mon, give them a bit of credit. They have recruited well and had their spine sorted for a couple of years now with two very good players as their bookends McKay and Weitering. They just needed to fill in a few more holes and add a touch of class. A fit Cripps has been the missing Link in their midfield. Such a shame we picked Ben Lennon instead of him.
I don't like Carlton all that much but the days of brown paper bags under the table are over.
