Coronavirus grand final.

Just cancel the season already. Empty stadiums, 17 games, 16 minute quarters, 5 games in 3 weeks etc. It's stuffed either way.

Not sure it's about the AFL setting an example, rather that the integrity of the comp can't be sustained.

There's a bit to be said for giving the public some time out from current events by soldiering on with a sport that has massive popular support, but it's perhaps more of a blow if we get a round or two in and then need to postpone.

Yeah, don't necessarily agree with the premise of that article.

Yes. As a said previously a premiership will be tainted regardless of where it goes from here.

I'm losing interest as everyday goes on with this f*cking mayhem. Wish there was a trip to Mars.....

Rumours that the Giov. will cut mass gatherings to 50 people from today & that's the hold up on the Thursday decision.
If that comes in it's good night nurse for footy in 2020. It's now out of the AFLs hands.

two times 22 = 44

two coaches = 46

two doctors = 48

One runners/water = 49

One reporter (Martin Flanagan please) = 50

captains umpire.

if they need an ambulance, the runners step outside.

what's happened to creativity?

at least we got a couple of premierships before this happened.

Scott and Buckley are probably fuming as they thought this was their year.

The start of the AFL season is usually one of the best times of the year. Hope, anticipation, warm weather, catching up with mates you haven't seem in ages for a few pre game drinks at the pub. Now it's just *smile*.

100 indoors. 500 outdoors. Show should go on.

seems a relatively simple decision for the AFL doesn't it?

we'll have Rd 1 with a 500 cap (No BT, 2 camera angles, couple of coaches, no *smile*)

and we wont close the roof at Comic Stadium even if its pissing down.

or if we do, 400 people who are superfluous to a game of footy have to leave.

see how she goes.

Probably worth backing Carlton for the flag at 200-1.

They could win the only game of the season and be awarded the cup.

16.5 mins quarters plus time on is the word.
Not sure WTF they're doing that.
Play the game properly or don't play it at all.

The league has been talking before this health crisis to try & shorten games.
They're using the virus as a reason to get their agendas through!
Watch them keep it when the corona virus is past!

SHocking.

Yeah WTF is that *smile*?? As if shortening the game will make any difference. Either play it in its current form or call it off.

Reading between the lines, the most recent content on afl.com.au seems to be pointing towards a round one go-ahead. With the PM putting the decision in the hands of the competition, there is now no meaningful barrier to holding things up. I suspect we'll hear the news in the next hour or two.
