Coronavirus

As reported today on those social media posts.

I know what was announced and I am not defending that. It just shows how out of touch and poorly informed our politicians and many in the bureaucracy are. people who write this stuff in the premiers office often don't understand public health and the way it is funded and run.
We can rabbit on about the politics all we like but we were never getting 4000 ICU beds. Maybe the 4000 could have been 4000 beds in total, I am not sure but that would be possible because the funding included money for general wards that could handle COVID patients who didn't need ICU but needed isolation and specialised nursing.
If I had $100 for every time I have seen a press release about public health in this state that is not 100% factually correct I would be living in a villa in the Bahamas and that goes back to when doofus Davis was Health Minister, although he was better than Mikakos.

Golden Gladys was saying today they think they'll get to 92% double vaxed 16+. That's excellent news.

the ultimate target should be much higher than that. now that they are doing trials on 5-11 year olds, we should be targeting at least 95% of 5+ by mid-2022.

another discussion point of course is boosters. Is it 6 months? 12 months? Somewhere in between? If it were 6 months, I’d be eligible by Xmas.

NSW testing rates have hovered around 100000 per day for the last week, but we're as high as 300000 a few weeks ago. There was a mandate for people living in hotspot LGAs to have a test every 3 days but I'm not sure if thats still in place. What's odd is their death rates are still a lot higher than Vic, despite both states recording similar numbers in cases recently. Is this just a lag effect and we should expect the death rate to climb in Vic in the next few weeks? Or does NSW have a lot more undetected cases out there?

NSW have more than 3 times the amount of people in hospital than VIC. They also have a high number of people doing the “hospital at home” program. Not sure of the count of deaths at home, but its a few.

You can believe what you like but I can tell you as a fact the $1.3 billion was for far more than ICU beds and that there has never been a plan for 4000 ICU beds mainly because it is physically impossible and there is no modelling that says we require them
The $1.3 billion was the allocation made at the time for all COVID costs in public hospitals including ICU but for many other things as well.
He needs to explain that rather than blatantly lie. I know all politicians lie a lot. I just want parliament to resume so that they can be held more accountable. The fact that half the posters around here are happy to accept his lies without questions because the vote ALP or the Greens make that even more unacceptable. If he lost votes over it or thought he did like the closed playground situation he would give us all more respectful answers like yours has been Sin in how it was a massive overreach and PR exercise gone wrong.

I happy the 5 to 11 hasn’t been discussed quite yet. As some states will make it the new conditions to be opened.

While I would go one step further and say booster shots will be needed next year and when travelling interstate you need one if it’s been stay 6 months since you have been fully vaccinated.

We need the country to be opened mid December at the latest.

Could not agree more with this MB.

All he has to do is say it was a mistake explain it and move on. This spin and evasiveness that morphs sometimes into lying drives me crazy. This is one of Dan’s biggest issues, he simply can’t admit a mistake.

it also extends to Georgie Crozier who is the shadow health minister. She is playing pure politics because she knows that we could never have 4000 ICU beds in the state and if she doesn’t she should not be shadow health minister.

She would know. Playing politics so they can try a lay a glove Dan Andrews for the lies. Can’t get headline or a more known brand if she agrees that it can’t be done.

I'm happy that resources have been redirected elsewhere to help with the pandemic, like
Lots of extra overtime for the all the coppers to check people were wearing their face nappies. Pay rises for public servants n extra work from home allowances. Paying for incompetent quarantine services, then still paying out hundreds of QT staff when he'd cancelled international QT services.

and there is no modelling that says we require them
But wasn't a lot of the early modelling on Coroner Cooties screaming that we were going to have millions of cases n thousands upon thousands of deaths? Under that sort of expert advice from the number fiddlers, 4000 ICU beds wouldn't have been anywhere near enough.

Don’t know whether to post here or in the lowlife thread. Those militant antivax *smile* that make bookings and have no intention of turning up. Causing wastage of valuable product, wasting people’s times and causing those that want to get vaxxed to be delayed or miss out.
We get it. You don’t believe in COVID or vaccines. The vast majority of us are trying to do the right things to get restrictions eased ( as much as a lot of us don’t like them, like myself). Same goes for those *smile* that are trying to force their views by attacking families trying to have a picnic etc
If it was up to me you pricks would be treated like terrorists / criminals. Throw you arseholes in jail, fine the *smile* out of you wankers and deprive you of any benefits that those who are doing the right thing will get.
I don’t care if you don’t want to get vaccinated, I don’t go around abusing you because of your beliefs. I’ve seen it get nasty at work and don’t like it, from both sides. I’m not forcing my views down your throats. How would the maggots that ripped the masks off those ladies because they don’t believe in it, like pro-vaxxers go around and inject them with the vaccine?
Sorry, had to vent, hours cut from work and getting very frustrated and pissed off with a lot of people

Can anyone please post when he has ever admitted to making a mistake or being wrong. Just one single example would be nice
He can't remember ever having done anything so how could he possibly have ever made a mistake. It's always somebody else who might have said or done something, but he'll look into it n get back to you with an answer one day.

Just give it a rest please TM, seriously

Nope but I don’t think he is Robinson Crusoe
He’s not, but he’s the one supposedly be leading the state ( or is that Sutton?), he’s the one that’s implementing the laws. He’s the one that is supposed to be trusted.
Just like Morrison federally.
Sorry, no time for either of the two lying , buck passing pricks

Why does it have to be a lie? Everyone overestimated the impact of COVID in April 2020. We were told 60% of us would contract it at one point.

Approx 1% of COVID sufferers end up in ICU (currently 1.45% of active cases in ICU nationwide). To fill 4,000 ICU beds in VIC, you'll need about 400,000 active cases in VIC.

I just found out part of the NSW roadmap is to open up to unvaccinated people on December 1. Just when you thought the most reckless premier in the country couldn’t be more reckless.

I noticed with interest that Qantas and Jetstar have started scheduling flights between Melbourne and Sydney from November 5 on the expectation VIC and NSW will open up to each other when VIC reaches 80%. I would be stunned if Andrews/Sutton opens up to a state that lets the unvaccinated roam free.

That lack of a unified approach across all states has significantly contributed to the divisiveness amongst the people.

Still should be on track to open up around Melbourne cup day. Get crowds to the Melbourne cup and have some at Derby Day. Also need more news on what we can do and what we are aiming do to. People need to see clear light at the end of the tunnel and we need to be positive in what we can do outside so that family’s s friends can catch up.

Feel terrible for saying this. But it might not be a bad thing if Queensland gets a few more cases. States need to see that they have to open up.
