All fingers been pointed at our batsmen this series but our bowlers and Paine have been horrendous over the past two days!

Saker has questions to answer as well as Langer.

Then you probably shouldn't be posting nonsense like 'he found his level' when he showed for two decades that he was above the level.

My recollection is that he was a good player, who got a second go at shield cricket when he was in his prime and didn't quite take his chance. And like a hell of a lot of players he perhaps could have been given a bit more of a go.

Gotta love the positivity of Shane Warne.
As much as said we should try to get to the follow on and declare because it's the only way we can win.
Got the right idea but I reckon maybe the best idea is to just not get there so they enforce it and have to bat last.

The Victorian Batsman that was going to be a star was Paul Meville .

Agree with scrapping the one day tournament at the start of the season and start the Shield season earlier till Christmas and start the BBL at the start of the new year .
ODIs are dying .. just keep Tests and T20s and the game will be stonger .

What a pathetic performance by Australia.
We took three wickets (one of which wasn't out), after 1, 2, 4 and 5 were already out.

Pant and Jadeja's partnership was only the 9th in Test history of over 200 runs where both players went in at 7 or lower.

After years of being ignored, he was brought back in halfway through the 1995/96 season, when he would have been 30, so in his prime yes. He played 10 games as an opener when he was a middle order batsman. He top-scored six times and second top-scored twice (2 100s, 5 50s) in a team that included Jones, Elliott and Hodge. He had a couple of lean games and was dropped, never to be picked again despite dominating District cricket into his 40s.

Jones, Siddons, Hodge, Elliott and Maxwell are the only superior Victorian batsmen of the past 30 years. (Including Klinger but not counting Hussey, Lehmann or Nobes.)

His last season was 96/97, he had scores of 55, 5, 1, 24*,4, 56, 1, 56, 24, 5, 14, 12, he averaged 21.41

He averaged 24.26. Hodge averaged 20, Harvey 24, Jones 40, that season. He was batted out of position and top-scored three times and was second-top once.

He was the best batsman in District cricket year after year while the likes of Vimpani got three years of averaging 20 in the state team. He made as many centuries in 83 first-class innings as Aaron Finch has in 83 first-class games. He scored 41 first grade centuries, more than anyone in Victorian history. Ask Leysy how good someone has to be to make that many tons. 48 centuries and 84 50s at district and state level. Was picked too young, discarded too early, ignored for most of his prime and still has a better first-class record than a few in the current Australian team.

If he were a Pom or a Kiwi he would have played 100+ first-class games and plenty of Tests.

Yes some get more opportunities than others, and to his credit i have read that he isn't bitter about it.

You mentioned Harvey he is a player that i liked, but i found frustrating at international level. I just checked his first class average, 34.6 with the bat isn't too bad for an all rounder and 27.51 with the ball is very good.

Harvey was a fantastic cricketer. 8000+ first-class runs and 400+ wickets. Brilliant fielder, could throw with either hand. Should have played Test cricket, they missed a trick especially in the sub-continent. Gilly could have batted at 6, Freak 7 as 3rd seamer, allowing 2 spinners.

At ODI level he was a brilliant bowler but never got many opportunities with the bat.

Just the perfect opportunity for the Australian batsmen today. No excuses.

Listening to Pant constantly screeching behind the stumps is as painful as listening to Sharapova
It’s designed to be painful and annoying (to the opposition)
